I never met Robert... but I have heard some great things about him from his daughter, Hayley. She always said you were a great man! I know she misses you a lot! And I do, too, even though I never met you....

Bob and I worked together at Lehman Brothers in the mid-nineties, and I always remember him as an intelligent, witty, and driven individual who very much loved living life to the fullest. Although we did not keep in touch much after our days at Lehman, I remember my times with Bob, John Westgate, and Bill Hughes as some of the best times in my career and life.

When I was young and starting out, I worked for Bob. He was good guy, an easy boss to like, a guy who would teach you a few things, a guy who had a sense of humor. I could see that he enjoyed his life and his family. Every time 9/11 rolls around, and a few other times a year, I think about Bob and what a waste all this killing is. Bob was a good man in this world, and even though I was out of touch with him when he died, I mourn him.

My brother, Alan Peterson was one of Bob's best friends at Columbia University. I remember Bob from all my visits to NYC on Spring Break. Even though it was so long ago, I recall his witty intelligence and wonderful gracious demeanor, even at a young "college-boy" age. He had an awesome sense of humor. He was an incredible athlete and was, by far, one of my favorites of all my brother's friends. Every year, when we inevitably approach the 9-11 anniversary, I take a bouquet of flowers to a local fire station in Bob's memory. I am grateful our paths crossed so many years ago. Rest peacefully, Bob. Know your family and friends will never, ever forget.

I came across this and had to write for the first time how much I miss my brother. Just reading the words of my brother and niece brings me back to that horrible day. He was too good and wonderful to have died just going to work. The pain of missing him will go on forever just as everyone else will endure with the loved ones lost on that day. Life just isn't the same. We love you, Bob.

I have so many fun memories of visiting Bob and Laurie in Montclair... playing with the girls... going to the park... dinners in the city... I just wanted you all to know that I was thinking about you a lot today... and I have you in my prayers.

Our hearts go out to your wonderful family today, God Bless you all.

My brother, Bob, will forever be in our hearts and minds. As we approach the 5th anniversary of this tragedy, I still can clearly see him at my house in Red Bank, NJ, on my back porch just the weekend prior. He looked great and had a laugh or two with me and my wife Faith. Bob, we miss you more each day.

It has been nearly 5 years and still the memories are so vivid. Robert and family stayed with us the middle of August. That week, golf was the word. What a fun time we all had. Robert was such a loving and caring person. We had great late night talks about family -- work -- golf -- Beatles (the band) world problems. He had great knowledge about many things. He had a great sense of humor. I can still picture him with all his family (aunts, uncles, cousins, dancing to the silly "duck song" at his parents wonderful wedding anniversary party. I think of him daily and know that he is watching and very proud of his two beautiful, smart, loving daughters. Their accomplishments are many in school and sports. I miss the talks, dinners, and the golf matches.

Post your memorial thoughts:

Share your feelings and memories of grief and sadness concerning the 9-11-2001 attack, or of positive memories.  If you knew this person, help us to build a small 'bio' of the person and share with us something about his/her life:

  • what kind of person he/she was,
  • what nice points you remember about him/her,
  • what kind of relationship you had with him/her,
  • what you two perhaps did together,
  • what he/she meant to you,
  • or other things about him/her might be especially encouraging for other people.

This web site is intended solely as a means of allowing all of us to express our grief and sympathy in behalf of the people who lost their lives, and also our love and compassion towards those who lost loved ones and friends in the 9/11/01 tragedy. The site is strictly for memorial mentions of those who passed away in the tragedy, not of other people who have passed away.

Our hearts are very touched with concern in behalf of those people, and it is to them that we dedicate this web site. It is not our intent to venture into the realms of WHO should face judgement, to take responsibility for those terrible events, because we have no way of knowing for sure who all might fall into that category. Therefore, any letters or notes written passing judgment upon any person or group will not be published on this site. We do NOT want this site to be a base for expressions of hatred, but only for expressions of LOVE!
