My deepest sorrow to learn tonight that Bob is gone. The Thanksgiving before your first child was to be born we shared a wonderful day celebrating the holiday and the pending birth. Your son was born and it was a joyous day in Brooklyn when he was christened. God Bless you with your sparkly smile Bob. Marie, my sincerest condolences to you and the boys. Your old friend,Dorothy

I worked to the left of Bob on the floor of the Amex. As anyone who has been there knows, we broke the stress by joking around. He was such a funny guy and could break in on the latest skit without missing a beat. I never understood how such a nice guy could be such an effective broker. Most of had our sense of humor chipped away from the stress, but somehow Bob kept his. I left the exchange 8 years before 9-11. I remember Bob and Tommy Sullivan walking down the steps that led to the floor ... orders in hand and laughing. God bless you, Bob.

Bob was a unique guy and a great person to know. He was able to hold a deep discussion on just about any subject one minute, as well as clown around about the silliest things the next.

Bob, we all miss you, and you obviously have made an impact on me, since I still think about you more than eight years after you were unfortunate enough to become a part of the subject that you loved so much—HISTORY. Thanks for all the good times, and look in on William for me if you get the time.

I grew up with Bob on E. 14 St. and ended up living next door to the Twomey's for 6 years. I will always remember him taking those long bike rides to Breezy Point, where he had a flourishing garden. His love of his boys and his wife Marie was always evident. Every year at this time, they are all in our thoughts and prayers. We hope that they are all well, and I'm sure Bob is watching over them every day. The Harveys and the Twomeys are two wonderful families that I was privileged to know for many years growing up in Brooklyn.

Bobby was a great uncle and role model for me. He used to tutor me in math when I was a kid. Smart guy and funny! A big heart! The families got spread all over the place and we lost touch over the years although I went to his wedding. The 9/11 disaster was horrible for me. I miss Bobby but I know that he is in heaven watching over us.

Didn't know Robert. But my school passed out these 9/11 rememberence bracelets and each had a name on them. I got Robert Twomey. I figured I should pay my respects to him. God Bless and Rest In Peace, from what i've read about him he seemed like a very nice guy.

Bob created two sons, this was his accomplishment.  He was so funny, but he said they were like his little companions.  He was excited at the notion of one day becoming a Grandfather.  Now that they are men, I wish he could have seen more of their lives.  He was enjoying how his cards played out, so each day was rather happy.  That makes a rather good life and Bob deserved it.  Sure do miss his quick wit.

Post your memorial thoughts:

Share your feelings and memories of grief and sadness concerning the 9-11-2001 attack, or of positive memories.  If you knew this person, help us to build a small 'bio' of the person and share with us something about his/her life:

  • what kind of person he/she was,
  • what nice points you remember about him/her,
  • what kind of relationship you had with him/her,
  • what you two perhaps did together,
  • what he/she meant to you,
  • or other things about him/her might be especially encouraging for other people.

This web site is intended solely as a means of allowing all of us to express our grief and sympathy in behalf of the people who lost their lives, and also our love and compassion towards those who lost loved ones and friends in the 9/11/01 tragedy. The site is strictly for memorial mentions of those who passed away in the tragedy, not of other people who have passed away.

Our hearts are very touched with concern in behalf of those people, and it is to them that we dedicate this web site. It is not our intent to venture into the realms of WHO should face judgement, to take responsibility for those terrible events, because we have no way of knowing for sure who all might fall into that category. Therefore, any letters or notes written passing judgment upon any person or group will not be published on this site. We do NOT want this site to be a base for expressions of hatred, but only for expressions of LOVE!
