I just read your friends' and family's loving words. I didn't know you nor any of the other people who left us on that terrible day. I just wanted to say "thank you" to you and all your brethren for "doing the right thing." R.I.P.

Sal,
I look back on the years after 2001. I think about the days you and I were in the academy together. I think about the day we became partners. I think about all those times we spent in the car on surveillance or in the precincts processing an arrest. I spent more time with you than I did with Lisa. I remember going with you to pick out Christine’s ring you had what a smile on your face, you were so excited. I remember when we had to buy and mail your mother all her Birthday cards because you knew it would make her feel special--and you lived in the same house. I learned a lot from you, buddy. I wish every day that I could pick up the phone and call you for some advice or to just say hello. You were always there for me and everyone around you. You always felt like it was your responsibility to do the right thing, and you did. When we were both promoted, I remember spending our last day together. We both looked at each other, and I turned to you and said, “I just wanted to tell you...” You stopped me, and you said “I know.” I never finished. I want to finish now. Sal, I want you to know I never have or never will work with a partner as great as you. I could always count on you in the worst of situations. I never felt alone, and I always felt like I had someone to trust. You were like my brother, and I will honor you until the day I die. I promise I will always be there for your family as you were. I know how much they mean to you. I miss you.

My Dear Sal,
I walked by the Plaza yesterday. Not much to look at these days, but it sent me into a whirl wind of memories. The day we first met, running around that place like we owned it, how we grew to become friends. You always made our time together interesting, you were always quite the life of the party. Even after our lives began to take separate paths, you always made the effort to stay in touch. It's been five years since you were taken. I still feel you, hear you, and talk about you as if you're right here. God only knows how many of us you touched and how badly you are still missed. God Bless you my friend.

Post your memorial thoughts:
Share your feelings and memories of grief and
sadness concerning the 9-11-2001 attack, or of positive memories. If you knew this
person, help us to build a small 'bio' of the person and share with
us something about his/her life:
- what kind of person he/she was,
- what nice points you remember about him/her,
- what kind of relationship you had with him/her,
- what you two perhaps did together,
- what he/she meant to you,
- or other things about him/her might be especially encouraging
for other people.
This web site is intended solely as a means of allowing all of us to express our grief and sympathy in behalf of the people who lost their lives, and also our love and compassion towards those who lost loved ones and friends in the 9/11/01 tragedy. The site is strictly for memorial mentions of those who passed away in the tragedy, not of other people who have passed away.
Our hearts are very touched with concern in behalf of those people, and it is to them that we dedicate this web site. It is not our intent to venture into the realms of WHO should face judgement, to take responsibility for those terrible events, because we have no way of knowing for sure who all might fall into that category. Therefore, any letters or notes written passing judgment upon any person or group will not be published on this site. We do NOT want this site to be a base for expressions of hatred, but only for expressions of LOVE!
9-11Heroes.us is a personal effort, not a business, nor is the site dedicated to any specific person or persons. We will not post negative comments. Moreover, 9-11Heroes.us reserves the right to choose which comments to post and also to edit the comments for spelling, punctuation, grammar, or edit comments that are unkind or offensive in some manner. We are maintaining this site with our own money and time. We try to keep the advertisements to a minimum and we try to make them as unobtrusive as possible. The revenue goes back to maintaining this site.
