I was just in NYC for the first time, at the end of August, right before the memorial. I, of course, visited Ground Zero and the museum on the site. It was there that I purchased this little velvet bag that contained a bracelet with the name of a hero who gave his life on 911. That name was Scott Kopytko. I have been wearing it every day, thinking about this man. Some believe that it in the memories of the living, that we live on. I am sorry that I never knew Scott. I will think of him everyday and pay homage to his memory, a true american hero. Thank you Scott.

I am doing a report on Scott for my Fire one and two class, and his story is amazing. I am sorry for the family and friends who lost such an amazing person. I would love to hear more stories about Scott. Feel free to email me. Thank you, and again, I am sorry for your loss.

Scott, as we are now here once again at the anniversary of your passing, I am again saddened at the loss. Even though we were not close during the final years, you will always be in my heart. When you lose a family member, no matter how close you were, it hurts just the same. My children are now remembering you during this time. My daughter has been watching the History channel and viewing everything that happened on that day. We miss you so much. Be safe and tell grandma we all said hello.

And so it's nine years since that tragic day. It's hard to believe how quickly time has passed, yet every time we walk by Ground Zero, our thoughts turn to you.
We will never forget you.

We will never forget you, Scott, nor your family. We see your picture every day alongside our memorial to all our heroes from September 11, 2001. As a NYC Fire Fighter, you were a hero long before that day. May God bless you and your family.

Death leaves a heartache no one can heal; love leaves a memory no one can steal.
I did not know you, but I am a Kopytko from Germany. We have the same surname. I am saddened by the loss.

Scott,
As I remember you in my heart, I have tears running down my face. I miss you dearly. We were never really that close, except as kids at Aunt Gloria and Uncle Bob's house on Christmas, but in my heart we always were. My children remember you as the uncle they never knew, but will know you in their hearts, as you lost your life to save all of the people who live in America. My children also remember to wear their shirts on 9-11 to remember the Uncle they lost in 9-11 (OUR HERO). Say HELLO to Grandma Kitty for us, and tell her we are also thinking about her.
Hugs and Kisses,
Cathy, Gregory, and Shannon

Scott, as I think of you during the upcoming anniversary of 9/11, I wonder what kind of person you would have become. I hope Grandma Kitty is looking after you, as you were the light in her eyes. I will wear my shirt in your memory on 9/11 and pray for you. You are always in my heart.
Love, your cousin,
Cathy Lemmo

We were friends of Scott and he also worked with us as a commodities broker at the WTC when we had our office there. He liked the WTC area so much that he had himself stationed at a nearby firehouse. How ironic. Scott was selfless, kind, honest, funny, and a good friend. We miss him dearly... and will never forget him.

As a very distant relative of Scott's on his maternal Grandmother's side I attended his memorial tribute with my family and was so impressed with the turn out of firefighters, policemen, and the presence of Mayor Rudy Guiliani. It made an everlasting impression on me that in times of Crisis, New Yorkers are the greatest survivors of tragedy.

Post your memorial thoughts:
Share your feelings and memories of grief and
sadness concerning the 9-11-2001 attack, or of positive memories. If you knew this
person, help us to build a small 'bio' of the person and share with
us something about his/her life:
- what kind of person he/she was,
- what nice points you remember about him/her,
- what kind of relationship you had with him/her,
- what you two perhaps did together,
- what he/she meant to you,
- or other things about him/her might be especially encouraging
for other people.
This web site is intended solely as a means of allowing all of us to express our grief and sympathy in behalf of the people who lost their lives, and also our love and compassion towards those who lost loved ones and friends in the 9/11/01 tragedy. The site is strictly for memorial mentions of those who passed away in the tragedy, not of other people who have passed away.
Our hearts are very touched with concern in behalf of those people, and it is to them that we dedicate this web site. It is not our intent to venture into the realms of WHO should face judgement, to take responsibility for those terrible events, because we have no way of knowing for sure who all might fall into that category. Therefore, any letters or notes written passing judgment upon any person or group will not be published on this site. We do NOT want this site to be a base for expressions of hatred, but only for expressions of LOVE!
