Although I never met Sebastian or his family, I just want to say that I am so sorry for your loss. Watching the 911 memorial every year always captures my heart but this year I bawled my eyes out as Nicholas spoke. I will forever have your family in my thoughts and prayers. Nicholas is one very strong little boy. I am certain his father watches over him every day and was very proud of the strength he showed yesterday.

Dear Nicholas,
I was very moved by your beautiful words you spoke to express your love for your father. By thinking of him, he will always be with you and protect you.

I just watched your son speak of you on the Sept 11 2001 memorial. I was touched by what he said, and he looks to be a fine young man you will be proud of.

Your son spoke beautifully today of the father he was never able to meet. Thank you for your sacrifice and willing your child to life!

As a German citizen living in the US I researched the German victims as I hadn't really heard a lot about them when it happened. I lived in Germany at the time. I learned about Sebastian while reading about his dad's efforts to get a memorial for the German victims in Berlin. I'm sorry to hear that they made it so difficult for you and I'm glad that a memorial stone was created with the help of the US embassy in Berlin. I'd like to pay my respect for your hard work to get this accomplished! I'm sure it was a dream-come-true for Sebastian to be able to live in New York when he first left Germany. I shared the feeling and I'm saddened that it took such a tragic end for him. I want his family to know that we didn't forget about their son and all the other victims.

Dear Sebastian,
The very last moments of your brief life will never be known to us—the horror, the fear, the hopelessness, and the despair that you had to endure. My heart aches thinking about you and all the people who died with you, who didn't even get a chance to take leave from their dear ones.

Liebe Familie Gorki,
[Ed. - Dear Gorki family, last evening I saw the documentary on the Second Channel of German Television, and each time it is frightening once again. How many individual deaths—each one of which is unbelievably intolerable—this attack caused. How many people lost lost their partner, their parents, their child! I hope that things are going well for Paula and her grandchildren.]

This day will be in my memory forever. I lived in Chicago when it happened. I will never forget. I just learnt about Sebastian. He will live on in our memories. In September 2001, I wrote on the internet: we will prevail. We will.

He has a daughter. She was born in February 2002, so she never knew her daddy. :(
I'm from Germany, too, and so sag about that. He was really handsome! May god bless you and your family.

Each year on 9/11 I think of you Sebastian, a colleague and friend, and the last time I met you, shortly before you left Germany for New York. And I think of this terrible feeling when I tried to call you on 9/12/01 to make sure you were ok... it's been 7 years now but the sad feeling remains.

Sebastian,
I knew you as my broker, but also as a good guy. I think about you from time to time and remember when you told me that you could not service me any longer because you had this exciting new position in New York. The good guys don't always make it, but if there is any justice in the world, I hope your soul is living happily.

Post your memorial thoughts:
Share your feelings and memories of grief and
sadness concerning the 9-11-2001 attack, or of positive memories. If you knew this
person, help us to build a small 'bio' of the person and share with
us something about his/her life:
- what kind of person he/she was,
- what nice points you remember about him/her,
- what kind of relationship you had with him/her,
- what you two perhaps did together,
- what he/she meant to you,
- or other things about him/her might be especially encouraging
for other people.
This web site is intended solely as a means of allowing all of us to express our grief and sympathy in behalf of the people who lost their lives, and also our love and compassion towards those who lost loved ones and friends in the 9/11/01 tragedy. The site is strictly for memorial mentions of those who passed away in the tragedy, not of other people who have passed away.
Our hearts are very touched with concern in behalf of those people, and it is to them that we dedicate this web site. It is not our intent to venture into the realms of WHO should face judgement, to take responsibility for those terrible events, because we have no way of knowing for sure who all might fall into that category. Therefore, any letters or notes written passing judgment upon any person or group will not be published on this site. We do NOT want this site to be a base for expressions of hatred, but only for expressions of LOVE!
