Michael Curtain and I went to high school together. I remember him performing in the school plays. I had not seen him in years because I had moved from the area. When I heard of his passing I was shocked and saddened. Not only was he a good and caring person, he was so much fun! My prayers are with his wife and daughters.

My name is Dan Curtin. (no relation). At the time of 9-11 I was Vice Chief of the Curtin Clan. We honored Mike for several years on our web site with memorial. The 10th anniversary brought me back here to again honor him. We will run his story again on curtin.org very soon because he is a hero who needs to be remembered by all.

To my fellow Michael Curtin on 09/11/11. I remember seeing our name for the first time when they posted the list of those who died on 09/11. Although I did not know you I always think of you when someone mentions 09/11. I will pray for you and your family today as I will pray for all those who gave their lives on that fateful day that we will never forget. Rest in peace.....Michael W. Curtin

It is with great pride that we honor Michael Curtin. We have the same last name and feel that in some way we are related. Your sacrifice is remembered in our home and your name will be traced when we visit the memorial in October. We pray for your wife and children.

I met Mike Curtin in 1976 on Okinawa. We became good buddies. We then were both stationed at Camp Pendleton. A little later, he became my brother-in-law. We had many good times together. He was a real marine and a good man.
Helga, I am so sorry for your loss. Hang in there.
Girls, your dad was one of a kind.
SEMPER FI, MIKE. REST EASY.

I Served with the SgtMaj at 6th Comm and he had a profound impact on my life and carrier. I am also a police officer and within our division I pass a picture of Mike daily and am reminded of who we lost on this day. You will never be forgotten. I won't let it happen. I can't. Your life deserves to be remembered. You are missed. God Bless and Semper Fi'

Sgt. Major Curtin was one of a kind. He loved his wife, daughters, the NYPD, the U.S. Marine Corps, and his men. He was there for us and never left one of his men behind. For that, Sgt. Major, I will always be indebted to you.

I met Mike in the summer of 1979 at Paris Island. He was a model marine. The di I expected, then again on a westpac out of Pendelton—what a great guy he was! I only wish I knew he lived only 25 minutes from me 30 years later! We could have had some fun! May god bless you, Mike, and your family.

I knew Mike Curtin as a young teenager. Even then I knew of his commitment to serve his country, and even then it was evident that he was a young man of character and courage. I had heard of Mike's bravery and knew that he had died courageously on September 11, 2001, but only today did I learn of his many other heroic actions. Mike was a true American hero; many thanks to him and to his family for his greatest sacrifice.

Post your memorial thoughts:
Share your feelings and memories of grief and
sadness concerning the 9-11-2001 attack, or of positive memories. If you knew this
person, help us to build a small 'bio' of the person and share with
us something about his/her life:
- what kind of person he/she was,
- what nice points you remember about him/her,
- what kind of relationship you had with him/her,
- what you two perhaps did together,
- what he/she meant to you,
- or other things about him/her might be especially encouraging
for other people.
This web site is intended solely as a means of allowing all of us to express our grief and sympathy in behalf of the people who lost their lives, and also our love and compassion towards those who lost loved ones and friends in the 9/11/01 tragedy. The site is strictly for memorial mentions of those who passed away in the tragedy, not of other people who have passed away.
Our hearts are very touched with concern in behalf of those people, and it is to them that we dedicate this web site. It is not our intent to venture into the realms of WHO should face judgement, to take responsibility for those terrible events, because we have no way of knowing for sure who all might fall into that category. Therefore, any letters or notes written passing judgment upon any person or group will not be published on this site. We do NOT want this site to be a base for expressions of hatred, but only for expressions of LOVE!
