On 9-11-11, our Greater Eugene Sweet Adeline Chorus sang patriotic songs for our community. Every woman wore a silver locket on a blue ribbon, each enclosing the name of a woman who lost their life on 9-11-01. I felt honored to have Sheila Patricia Barnes as my personal honoree. I would like her family to know that though I never had the joy of knowing this special woman, she will forever have a revered place in my heart.

Blessings to the family of Sheila Patricia Barnes. I did not know you or your family but on this day, ten years later, we honor and remember all who lost their lives on 9-11 and the loved ones so deeply affected by the horrible events of that day. You will remain forever in the hearts and minds of many.

I am currently a UNCW student and today we had a WE REMEMBER event. Students stood in a formation that resembled the twin towers and the pentagon and each student held up a sign with someones name on it that lost their life during 9/11. I am the lucky student who got to represent Sheila Patricia Barnes in the stance and I am honored to remember her ten years later. The picture will be posted on the UNCW website. Hope you enjoy.

Mrs. Barnes was a very sweet person. Although I didn't spend much time with her, I know her daughters, and their loving kind hearts were products of the parents that they were blessed with. I pray for this family very often, and I pray God sends them a comforter every time that they are saddened by this tragic event.

Years may pass, but we will never forget all the brave souls on that fateful day. Bless them all.

I do not know your family, but I have a silver memorial bracelet with Sheila Barnes' name engraved on it that I received after the tragedy when I worked with a 9/11 support group. I want to give it to your family. Please contact me at ssurget100 (at) hotmail (dot) com.

I agree with my cousin Tanya. Tia Sheila was a beautiful person. She was so very supportive of my mother and me when we were fleeing from my father's violence. I will remember her always for giving us a safe haven. I will also remember her for supporting me in my endeavors. She road-tripped with my mom to my various beauty pageants. That was a wonderful memory. I think about her often, but on 9/11, I honor her. God bless her, God bless America, and God bless those who are fighting for our safety.

The saddness felt by the lost of my Tia Sheila is beyond description!  Tia Sheila was a beautiful person inside and out. She always offered positivity and encouragement! I am sure that anyone that knew her would say the same! I know that she is in a better place now but Sheila Patricia Barnes is deeply missed by myself and all that knew her!

Post your memorial thoughts:

Share your feelings and memories of grief and sadness concerning the 9-11-2001 attack, or of positive memories.  If you knew this person, help us to build a small 'bio' of the person and share with us something about his/her life:

  • what kind of person he/she was,
  • what nice points you remember about him/her,
  • what kind of relationship you had with him/her,
  • what you two perhaps did together,
  • what he/she meant to you,
  • or other things about him/her might be especially encouraging for other people.

This web site is intended solely as a means of allowing all of us to express our grief and sympathy in behalf of the people who lost their lives, and also our love and compassion towards those who lost loved ones and friends in the 9/11/01 tragedy. The site is strictly for memorial mentions of those who passed away in the tragedy, not of other people who have passed away.

Our hearts are very touched with concern in behalf of those people, and it is to them that we dedicate this web site. It is not our intent to venture into the realms of WHO should face judgement, to take responsibility for those terrible events, because we have no way of knowing for sure who all might fall into that category. Therefore, any letters or notes written passing judgment upon any person or group will not be published on this site. We do NOT want this site to be a base for expressions of hatred, but only for expressions of LOVE!

9-11Heroes.us is a personal effort, not a business, nor is the site dedicated to any specific person or persons. We will not post negative comments. Moreover, 9-11Heroes.us reserves the right to choose which comments to post and also to edit the comments for spelling, punctuation, grammar, or edit comments that are unkind or offensive in some manner.
