On this, the ninth anniversary of 9-11, my son's school, Mount St. Joseph HS, displayed 2977 flags, one for each of the innocent victims of 9-11. Each flag had the name of one of the victims. The boys were asked to take a flag home to remember and pray for that person and their family. Shuyin Yang, we remember you and we pray for you....

I remembered you today, and sadness struck me even though I didn't know you.... You will never be forgotten....

I am a Chinese teaching English in China and on way to locate the source of the poem for my class presentation tomorrow, I am taken here, seeing it used in memory of another Chinese! Life's circle...

I am using this poem for my poetry class on the session of "poetry and war", together with a number of W.H.Auden's. This is a class of 6 Chinese graduate students in Hunan, China. I will bring this memorial message to their notice, too.

On 9/11 this year in my undergraduate class in American literature I presented eleven pictures of WTC before and after 9/11, ending with this powerpoint age:

We Are the World and We Yearn for...
PEACE to live
LIBERTY/FREEDOM to live a life of our own
                  to love
                  to laugh
                  to create
To make the world a better place to live
And this is our FAITH

Rest in peace, Granny Yang, and all victims and heroes.

A Poem for America

America the Beautiful
America the great
If this is true
Why was this our fate?
Was it something we did?
Was it something we said?
Even if so
Do all those people deserve to be dead?
We are going through horror
We are going through pain
Yet we are not to worry
For justice we shall gain
We must pray and stick together
Pray and be strong
Finding the one responsible will not take too long
And when we do find them
We will make them pay
And that my brothers and sisters
Will be the most glorious day!

Post your memorial thoughts:

Share your feelings and memories of grief and sadness concerning the 9-11-2001 attack, or of positive memories.  If you knew this person, help us to build a small 'bio' of the person and share with us something about his/her life:

  • what kind of person he/she was,
  • what nice points you remember about him/her,
  • what kind of relationship you had with him/her,
  • what you two perhaps did together,
  • what he/she meant to you,
  • or other things about him/her might be especially encouraging for other people.

This web site is intended solely as a means of allowing all of us to express our grief and sympathy in behalf of the people who lost their lives, and also our love and compassion towards those who lost loved ones and friends in the 9/11/01 tragedy. The site is strictly for memorial mentions of those who passed away in the tragedy, not of other people who have passed away.

Our hearts are very touched with concern in behalf of those people, and it is to them that we dedicate this web site. It is not our intent to venture into the realms of WHO should face judgement, to take responsibility for those terrible events, because we have no way of knowing for sure who all might fall into that category. Therefore, any letters or notes written passing judgment upon any person or group will not be published on this site. We do NOT want this site to be a base for expressions of hatred, but only for expressions of LOVE!

9-11Heroes.us is a personal effort, not a business, nor is the site dedicated to any specific person or persons. We will not post negative comments. Moreover, 9-11Heroes.us reserves the right to choose which comments to post and also to edit the comments for spelling, punctuation, grammar, or edit comments that are unkind or offensive in some manner. We are maintaining this site with our own money and time. We try to keep the advertisements to a minimum and we try to make them as unobtrusive as possible. The revenue goes back to maintaining this site.

Thank you for your understanding in these matters.
