In memory of Steven C. I climbed 110 flights of stairs this morning. I never knew Steven, but it was an honor to wear his picture and support his memory today. It was a beautiful sight to see over a 100 Firefighters and Police officers wearing all the pictures of those whom we lost on this day10 years ago. May the Lord Bless the family of Steven C. And all who were victims of 9/11. God bless and I will always Remember.

It was our pleasure living across the street from Steve in Florida and getting to know him and his father, Vinnie. Thinking of you.

Hello from Miami. We were working an ALS unit #743 on 9-11-01 at Citywide Mobile, myself and my partner Karen. I rememmber begging the dispatch to send us to the site to help out. We did not think about it twice. We transported three patients to the hospital including Fire Chief Henry from Batallion #40. I hope he is ok. My thoughts and prayers go out to all who lost a loved one that day. May you one day find comfort.

From Yarmouth, ME: I was handed a bill last night with "Steven Coakley FDNY 9-11-01 Never forget" stamped on it. In looking up Steven, I also saw the faces of the other 342 firefighters lost in this tragedy. I was going to keep this bill, but I believe I will pass it on so others may be inspired to look up the same and "never forget."

My son Noah had a dollar bill given to him by his older brother's friend with "Steven Coakley FDNY 9-11-01 never forget" on it. Noah was only a baby when this tragedy happened, so he really didn't know about this. So when he was given this dollar, I told him that this "hero" had probably perished in the attacks. He now wants to keep it. Our thoughts and prayers go out to all of the families who lost loved ones that day. So best wishes to all of you from Kentucky.

My name is Jason Airey and I received a dollar bill with the stamp on it. I thought it was one of the coolest things I've come across in my life. I have great remorse and respect for all the fallen heroes during the terrible 9-11 ordeal. I am fortunate to have a close friend that escaped building 2 before it went down. She has never been the same person since.
I was giving the special dollar in Palm Harbor, FL about a week ago around 9-03-09 at a Circle K store. I keep it near my computer and look at it several times a day. I want to keep it in a frame or something but not sure if that is what you intended. Should I keep the dollar in circulation or save it to show my grandchildren? My heart goes out to all who loved Steven. God bless

Hello from Florida.  My family received a one dollar bill that has a stamp, "Steven Coakley, FDNY 9-11-01 Never Forget."  It lead us to this site, and we read about Steven. May he rest in peace.

After a medical condition, I was to be retired on 09/11/01. Instead, they retired me 11/09/01 after 20 years of service with FDNY/EMS operations. That year I was to die three (3) times, but because of the Department influence and great transplant centers in NYC, I live to talk about it. My condition kept me away from all the memorial and funerals that were going on in NYC and surrounding areas. I was released from the hospital in mid-October 2001, and was able to drag myself to the memorial for my sister-in-law's brother-in-law FF Joseph Angilini Jr from E-4 and his father FF Joseph Angilini Sr. from R-1, both missing in 911. In Febuary of the following year, they found FF Joseph Angillini Jr's body and I was able to attend Joseph's funeral. They never found his father. I would have attended 343 memorials and funerals if I could. I made a promise to myself that as long as the good lord keeps me alive, I have comitted myself to helping my brother FF's and EMS colleauges. With that said, as long as you guys keep coming to Florida for the Steven Coakley memorial, I will continue to make sure my brothers, sisters, and their families get home safe. Please keep me in the loop, and if you ever need me for anything else don't hesitate to ask.

It was a great honor to be apart of Steve’s family/friends/co-workers for the 5th year memorial in his honor in Madeira Beach, FL. It was very moving and wonderful to see so many people that visited from NYC and among other places in the U.S. He is truly loved and will never be forgotten. Cheers Steve!

Post your memorial thoughts:

Share your feelings and memories of grief and sadness concerning the 9-11-2001 attack, or of positive memories.  If you knew this person, help us to build a small 'bio' of the person and share with us something about his/her life:

  • what kind of person he/she was,
  • what nice points you remember about him/her,
  • what kind of relationship you had with him/her,
  • what you two perhaps did together,
  • what he/she meant to you,
  • or other things about him/her might be especially encouraging for other people.

This web site is intended solely as a means of allowing all of us to express our grief and sympathy in behalf of the people who lost their lives, and also our love and compassion towards those who lost loved ones and friends in the 9/11/01 tragedy. The site is strictly for memorial mentions of those who passed away in the tragedy, not of other people who have passed away.

Our hearts are very touched with concern in behalf of those people, and it is to them that we dedicate this web site. It is not our intent to venture into the realms of WHO should face judgement, to take responsibility for those terrible events, because we have no way of knowing for sure who all might fall into that category. Therefore, any letters or notes written passing judgment upon any person or group will not be published on this site. We do NOT want this site to be a base for expressions of hatred, but only for expressions of LOVE!
