Father Grogan was my Religion teacher at Holy Cross High School, Waterbury,CT.. I will always remember his wit and love of God. I can well imagine him ministering to people until the final moments of his passing.

I recently ran the Jeffrey Coombs Memorial Road Race in Abington, MA. We were all given ribbons to run in honor of the person whose name was written on the ribbon. I am pleased to see that I ran in honor of a veteran, educator, and a wonderful man.

Father Grogan was a kind and gentle man, a WWII Navy veteran, and a humble, unassuming and holy priest. "Father, forgive them, for they know not what they do" could well have been his final prayer.

On this anniversary, I remember you as our chaplain and teacher at Holy Cross High School. Your kind and gentle spirit that endures to lighten the memory of that dark day. You continue to comfort us even now. Even Our Lord must have needed a great chaplain, then and for all time.

Father Grogan had such a positive way about him. He used to take me and my brother for early morning strawberry picking and then to McDonald's for hotcakes. Might not sound like much, but it sure meant a lot to us and we always looked forward to it. God bless him.

Here, on the ninth anniversary of 9/11 and the horrible events of that day that ended your life here on earth, we think of you and the shining example of your life that shone and showed real and eternal truth to all who knew you. You are in our prayers always.

Memories of a true hero:

Father Grogan was a positive influence on so many of us who were students at Holy Cross High School, especially at a time when social and racial issues were at an extreme height. I never got a chance to thank him personally for all his help and support during my high school years. We will miss him, but he will never be forgotten. Thank you, Father G.

All of us feel the deep hurt of 9/11. I have had four - five friends that were personally affected and I still have the terrible memories. As we move forward-I hope that we can establish a better working environment.
God Bless 911 - Up Mayo!

Post your memorial thoughts:

Share your feelings and memories of grief and sadness concerning the 9-11-2001 attack, or of positive memories.  If you knew this person, help us to build a small 'bio' of the person and share with us something about his/her life:

  • what kind of person he/she was,
  • what nice points you remember about him/her,
  • what kind of relationship you had with him/her,
  • what you two perhaps did together,
  • what he/she meant to you,
  • or other things about him/her might be especially encouraging for other people.

This web site is intended solely as a means of allowing all of us to express our grief and sympathy in behalf of the people who lost their lives, and also our love and compassion towards those who lost loved ones and friends in the 9/11/01 tragedy. The site is strictly for memorial mentions of those who passed away in the tragedy, not of other people who have passed away.

Our hearts are very touched with concern in behalf of those people, and it is to them that we dedicate this web site. It is not our intent to venture into the realms of WHO should face judgement, to take responsibility for those terrible events, because we have no way of knowing for sure who all might fall into that category. Therefore, any letters or notes written passing judgment upon any person or group will not be published on this site. We do NOT want this site to be a base for expressions of hatred, but only for expressions of LOVE!

9-11Heroes.us is a personal effort, not a business, nor is the site dedicated to any specific person or persons. We will not post negative comments. Moreover, 9-11Heroes.us reserves the right to choose which comments to post and also to edit the comments for spelling, punctuation, grammar, or edit comments that are unkind or offensive in some manner. We are maintaining this site with our own money and time. We try to keep the advertisements to a minimum and we try to make them as unobtrusive as possible. The revenue goes back to maintaining this site.

Thank you for your understanding in these matters.
