Today I watched a documentary 9/11. In 2001, I had watched the towers fall from another country while I held my newborn child in my arms. Your courage and faith touched me and though I did not know you, I miss u. I too believe you were meant to help others in heaven as well as you did on Earth.Thank you

I had the pleasure and the blessing of knowing Father Mykal personally. - He was also the chaplan at the crash of TWA Flight800 - He was there to minister to my family at the Ramada Hotel and continued to be at every memorial service until he died at 911.  We ate dinner together on July 17,2001 - I still remember his smile, his laugh and how he made everyone that was in that room felt they mattered - He truly was the perfect person to be there in heaven to welcome everyone that died that day into heaven

Father Mychal -- we miss your smile, your gentleness, your compassion, your physical presence in good times and bad. But we know you are with us always and are comforted by the knowledge that you are praying for us. We love you.

Father Mychael,

This is Kristen Doherty, SFO. Thank you for being there during my formation into the Secular Franciscan Order. I talked to Fr. Peter Sheridan, OFM. He says 'hello' to you and that he will be 95 years young. He is now in Holyname Friary in Ringwood, NJ. I miss all the advice you gave me. I thank you for being there for Brother Julian Jagudilla, OFM--now Fr. Julian Jagudilla, OFM. He made his priestly ordination on May 22, 2008. We miss you a lot, and we always pray for you. The Franciscan Friars of the Renewal are doing well in their ministry. I have had a lot of accomplishments in my life, such as being vice minister of St. Mary of the Angels in Rockville, Maryland. Remember, I am your franciscan sister though the spirit of Father Francis. May the lord give you his peace.

Kristen Doherty, SFO

As I watched that horrid site that day, I will never forget you and what you stood for ... the faith you showed under horrible stress.... I can only pray that God knew what he was doing. I think he did. He needed your kind soul with him to help the many to eternity. Thank you and your fellow firemen and police and all the rescuers who never stopped until there was nothing else to do.... God bless you and all who followed you that day.... You are in God's hands now--no better place to be....

"Greater love has no man than he lays down his life for his friend"
Fr. Judges courage and kindness will always inspire me for the rest of my life.

I'm sure God greeted him with "Well done, good and faithful servant"

You were the first offical death of 9-11, however i believe you were the first to go so that you were there waiting for the others who followed and to help guide them.... Rest in Peace...
He took you where he wanted you to go, let you meet those he wanted you to meet, told you what to say to those he wanted you to speak to, and now you stand beside him.

Post your memorial thoughts:

Share your feelings and memories of grief and sadness concerning the 9-11-2001 attack, or of positive memories.  If you knew this person, help us to build a small 'bio' of the person and share with us something about his/her life:

  • what kind of person he/she was,
  • what nice points you remember about him/her,
  • what kind of relationship you had with him/her,
  • what you two perhaps did together,
  • what he/she meant to you,
  • or other things about him/her might be especially encouraging for other people.

This web site is intended solely as a means of allowing all of us to express our grief and sympathy in behalf of the people who lost their lives, and also our love and compassion towards those who lost loved ones and friends in the 9/11/01 tragedy. The site is strictly for memorial mentions of those who passed away in the tragedy, not of other people who have passed away.

Our hearts are very touched with concern in behalf of those people, and it is to them that we dedicate this web site. It is not our intent to venture into the realms of WHO should face judgement, to take responsibility for those terrible events, because we have no way of knowing for sure who all might fall into that category. Therefore, any letters or notes written passing judgment upon any person or group will not be published on this site. We do NOT want this site to be a base for expressions of hatred, but only for expressions of LOVE!

9-11Heroes.us is a personal effort, not a business, nor is the site dedicated to any specific person or persons. We will not post negative comments. Moreover, 9-11Heroes.us reserves the right to choose which comments to post and also to edit the comments for spelling, punctuation, grammar, or edit comments that are unkind or offensive in some manner. We are maintaining this site with our own money and time. We try to keep the advertisements to a minimum and we try to make them as unobtrusive as possible. The revenue goes back to maintaining this site.

Thank you for your understanding in these matters.
