(9-11-2011) Today I held a flag with Mr. Hughes name on it during a 9-11 memorial service in Broomfield, Colorado. I found his name on the memorial wall dedicated to those who lost their lives at the World Trade Center. My family and I came home and looked up Thomas Hughes so that we could learn more about the special person I picked to hold today. We said prayers for him and your family. May God Bless you all.

May God be with Thomas and his family. Although his death was a tragedy his memory will be a comfort to all who knew and loved him. My heart goes out to his family and those who had the opportunity to know him.

My cousin Tommy was a quiet and very likeable person. Even now, nearly 10 years after this horrific event I carry his memory in my heart deep with sadness for his family. God Bless you, Tommy. May you rest in peace.

Don't know if you remember us or not, but our chamber choir from Ogden, UT "adopted" your family after 9/11. It helped us all to feel like we were doing a little something, and that we had someone that we were connected to in a way.
I think about your family every year-even though I didn't know Tom personally, both he and your family have had an impact on my life. I think about all of you every year at this time. I hope all is well with you and the kids. God Bless You.

I was just told of this site and had not known that it existed. I think, from some of the things that have been told to me, that I was Tommy Hughes' babysitter. If this is the Hughes family that once lived in Bloomfield, N.J., than I am sure that this is true.
It matters not if this is not the Tommy Hughes I knew and loved, as this ninth anniversary nears, my thoughts are with each and every one who died that day and with each and every one of their loved ones that they left behind. God bless you all.

My father was a good man and a very loving man. More people should have been like him. I hope to be like him. My kid, Kendra Hughes, will know that her grandfather is a hero to me and others. He is missed by all.

I read Mr. Hughes' daughter's account on September 11 Digital Archive. I just wanted to say that he sounds like he was a wonderful person. The world is a little less bright without him in it. God bless you.

I went to Seton Hall Prep with Tom. I was way too shy then, as was he. It is all so tragic. In my youth, my family had a summer home on Ocean Avenue in Spring Lake. I try to run the Spring Lake each year. I was there in 2002, my first run. I recall seeing all of the T-shirts and hats for all of the victims. I did not realize until now that Tom was living in Spring Lake. I will keep him in mind during my next run....

It's beyond painful;almost impossible for me to talk about this! When I was a child I looked up to Tommy,my family is large and I have many cousins, but I can count on one hand the ones who impacted my life.Just being around him made you feel better.I didn't get to see him very often but I remember every minute we were together! But more then this I remember what He meant to my Father.Tommy followed my Dad around like He was his shadow,my Dad taught him everthing He knew about estimating and Tommy never let him down! He never failed to make my father smile or laugh.I can say with absolute certainty that Tommy was my Father's favorite person in the whole world! And I know my Dad was his favorite Uncle!,possibly his best friend. If my Dad had been alive on Sept.11 He would have died from a broken heart!I can't write anymore ,even four year's after I'm crying like a baby and it's impossible for me to keep typing. My love and best wishes to his family and just know that he's with his Uncle Pete who loved him dearly.

Post your memorial thoughts:
Share your feelings and memories of grief and
sadness concerning the 9-11-2001 attack, or of positive memories. If you knew this
person, help us to build a small 'bio' of the person and share with
us something about his/her life:
- what kind of person he/she was,
- what nice points you remember about him/her,
- what kind of relationship you had with him/her,
- what you two perhaps did together,
- what he/she meant to you,
- or other things about him/her might be especially encouraging
for other people.
This web site is intended solely as a means of allowing all of us to express our grief and sympathy in behalf of the people who lost their lives, and also our love and compassion towards those who lost loved ones and friends in the 9/11/01 tragedy. The site is strictly for memorial mentions of those who passed away in the tragedy, not of other people who have passed away.
Our hearts are very touched with concern in behalf of those people, and it is to them that we dedicate this web site. It is not our intent to venture into the realms of WHO should face judgement, to take responsibility for those terrible events, because we have no way of knowing for sure who all might fall into that category. Therefore, any letters or notes written passing judgment upon any person or group will not be published on this site. We do NOT want this site to be a base for expressions of hatred, but only for expressions of LOVE!
9-11Heroes.us is a personal effort, not a business, nor is the site dedicated to any specific person or persons. We will not post negative comments. Moreover, 9-11Heroes.us reserves the right to choose which comments to post and also to edit the comments for spelling, punctuation, grammar, or edit comments that are unkind or offensive in some manner.
