Orlando Fire Department had a candlelight memorial ceremony tonight (9-11-11) and there were flags with all of the 9-11 victims. We were urged to reach out to the families by taking one or two of the flags and letting the family know that they were thought of. My son (7 yrs old) says that you must have been a pretty great person because God called you back to his side so soon. Our thoughts and prayers go to you family and friends.

I had the pleasure and honor to have played football with Tommy at Westchester Community College. We were both on crutches together! You were a great man then. God bless you and your family. Thank you for everything. My family will always remember you and your bravery.

I remember it like it was yesterday when my mother told be the story about what happen to you. I have printed some pictures of you and my section and will be wearing them on our run.

Hello Angel!
We are at the threshold of the 10th anniversary of your death, as well as other silent heroes who have died with you. This loss is so painful that it reflected a deep echo in the depths of the hearts of many good people all over the world.
I did not know you or any of your colleagues, but my are thoughts with you and your familie. In this tragic anniversary I will little a candle for you to know that even at a distance of one thousand miles many people remember about your enthusiasm and sacrifice, so deep that you all die on the field of glory.

Thomas Foley,
You and the firefighters of New York are an inspiration to those who knew you and to those who didn't. I continually feel compelled to tell people about you so that we never forget about you and so that you never stop getting the recognition that you deserve. I will never let you fade away.
Love,
Louise of Wainuiomata, New Zealand

We knew the Foley family when we lived in NY. My husband Joe Sigillo, who used to coach Danny Foley (Tom's brother) in the West Nyack Little League. We now live in Arizona and went to the memorial for 9-ll heroes. The Flags of Heroes, it was called. We searched and found the flag flying in Tom Foley's memory. We took pictures, and we would like to send them to Tom Foley's family. Please tell how we may get in touch with them.
Thank you,
Virginia and Joe Sigillo

We were neighbors on Foxwood Road way back when. I never did have pleasure of meeting you personally, but our children knew you. There are many wonderful memories to be cherished in those years when you all were growing up in West Nyack.
We cannot thank you enough, Tom Foley, for the ultimate sacrifice you made on 9-11. God bless.

We only met a few times back when you were riding bulls. Thanks so much for your sacrifice; it never should have been required. It saddens me that your light no longer shines in this world. May God bless and comfort your family. We will never forget our heroes.

I never had the pleasure of meeting you, Mr. Tommy, but man, every memorial site dedicated to you that I have had the pleasure of visiting, you must not be a fraction under 10 feet tall! You, sir, are the very definition of a model friend, brother, son, and HERO. It is my grave misfortune to not have been able to enrich my life by meeting a wonderful friend like you in life. My heart cries for you and the family and friends you had to leave behind. I know in my Catholic faith and in my heart that you are a soldier of Christ to be sent wherever the Lord sends you to defend, rescue, and protect those in need. Your spirit is free to help all now, and guided by the love you left behind to all those who love you. God bless you, dear son of the Foleys. WE here all owe you infinitely for your ultimate sacrifice. Your face is the sun we see so bright every morning at sunrise. Earth cries out for a hero ... you, Thomas. Heaven praises you, a hero. May I have the honor of shaking your hand one day at the gates if they let me in? I pray GOD BLESS, PROTECT, and REST THE SOUL OF THOMAS J. FOLEY! May the canonization process begin, 'Saint' Thomas.

I knew Tom back in the time when kids were innocent and a good time was a good fight on the neighbors' lawn just for a goof. I knew him through high school and a few experiences we shared. We socialized and would do our best at tackle football on the Prentice lawn in winter. Friends like Tom and John and Tim would often come. There was Roccabruno and Mike and Victor and Scanllon. Those were the times. Good times.

I happened upon pictures of a good friend's wedding in Vermont. I was amazed at two things: First, how many photos I had actually taken, and second, the incredible amount of people who attended the weekend. Tommy and Danny were there, as were a number of other firefighters. The days were filled with fun-filled events, and the nights with laughter and reminiscing about childhood ... a time of life missed by all. Today, it is events like the wedding which we reminisce upon and people like Tommy who are missed. I was searching for the annual golf outing information and found this interesting page. So to the Foley family, you are always in my prayers.... God bless.

Post your memorial thoughts:
Share your feelings and memories of grief and
sadness concerning the 9-11-2001 attack, or of positive memories. If you knew this
person, help us to build a small 'bio' of the person and share with
us something about his/her life:
- what kind of person he/she was,
- what nice points you remember about him/her,
- what kind of relationship you had with him/her,
- what you two perhaps did together,
- what he/she meant to you,
- or other things about him/her might be especially encouraging
for other people.
This web site is intended solely as a means of allowing all of us to express our grief and sympathy in behalf of the people who lost their lives, and also our love and compassion towards those who lost loved ones and friends in the 9/11/01 tragedy. The site is strictly for memorial mentions of those who passed away in the tragedy, not of other people who have passed away.
Our hearts are very touched with concern in behalf of those people, and it is to them that we dedicate this web site. It is not our intent to venture into the realms of WHO should face judgement, to take responsibility for those terrible events, because we have no way of knowing for sure who all might fall into that category. Therefore, any letters or notes written passing judgment upon any person or group will not be published on this site. We do NOT want this site to be a base for expressions of hatred, but only for expressions of LOVE!
