From what I've heard, Tommy Foley was a hero. I have family in the fire department, but I can't imagine how it must feel to lose them. Tommy, you're in my thoughts, and so is your family. Thank You.

I knew Tommy as a child and young person. He was the same age as my son, who was a policeman in NY but went to Vegas to join the police department there. He went before 9/11. When I think about Tommy, I say I know I could not be as brave as Tom and Pat. They are my heroes. They have always been so brave and kind to all. I hope if ever I am in their place I can make my son as proud as Tommy must be of his parents.

Tommy, I think of you often. And you are in my prayers.

I have never met you. I am now in a swim class with your niece, Erin. What a nice grandmother, Pat,(your mom, Pat), you have. I am so sorry for your loss. I cannot even begin to understand your heroism. You truly loved life and your job, and human kind. Thank you! To you and your family, they are truly blessed!

I didn't personally know Tom, but I first noticed him in an issue of People magazine, which listed top bachelors. His image and his name stuck in my mind from that moment on. I was devastated to find out what had happened to him on 9/11. My thoughts are with his family. God bless you all.

I remember going to Hunter Mountain with a group of us. Tommy was always the one to make sure everyone was having a good time and smiling. The last time I saw Tommy was in West Nyack at the store we all hung out at, I said to him, "I saw your picture in 'People.'" He said, "Sue, you know that's not me." That's the way he was. Down to earth. I miss him and will always remember Tommy.

I never met Thomas Foley.  I am a nephew of a cousin of his, Kathy Greaney.  The one time that I spoke to my Aunt Kathy about Thomas, she spoke very highly of him.  From what I understand, he was a wonderful person, and is deeply missed.  God rest his soul!

I met you parent's after 911 and they left an indellible  memory on my heart.  They brought the face home to my shore on the Pacific Coast.  I am saddened that we will not meet in this life but am certain that we will in the next.  Standing out and standing up for something is the greatest memorial a person can have.  Your young life stood for that.

Dear Tommy, you will always be my hero and I'll never forget you. May God bless you.

Post your memorial thoughts:

Share your feelings and memories of grief and sadness concerning the 9-11-2001 attack, or of positive memories.  If you knew this person, help us to build a small 'bio' of the person and share with us something about his/her life:

  • what kind of person he/she was,
  • what nice points you remember about him/her,
  • what kind of relationship you had with him/her,
  • what you two perhaps did together,
  • what he/she meant to you,
  • or other things about him/her might be especially encouraging for other people.

This web site is intended solely as a means of allowing all of us to express our grief and sympathy in behalf of the people who lost their lives, and also our love and compassion towards those who lost loved ones and friends in the 9/11/01 tragedy. The site is strictly for memorial mentions of those who passed away in the tragedy, not of other people who have passed away.

Our hearts are very touched with concern in behalf of those people, and it is to them that we dedicate this web site. It is not our intent to venture into the realms of WHO should face judgement, to take responsibility for those terrible events, because we have no way of knowing for sure who all might fall into that category. Therefore, any letters or notes written passing judgment upon any person or group will not be published on this site. We do NOT want this site to be a base for expressions of hatred, but only for expressions of LOVE!

9-11Heroes.us is a personal effort, not a business, nor is the site dedicated to any specific person or persons. We will not post negative comments. Moreover, 9-11Heroes.us reserves the right to choose which comments to post and also to edit the comments for spelling, punctuation, grammar, or edit comments that are unkind or offensive in some manner.
