I forgot my camera when I visited the 9/11 memorial January 15, 2012. My hand rested on the name of Thomas Gabino Jr. So I decided to pay tribute to this man and offer my heartfull thanks for your service to our country. God Bless you

On Monday, the anniversary of 9-11, our fire department in Aspen, Colorado, comemorated the men lost in the WTC attack. They placed red roses in the boots of our volunteer firefighters with photos of those in 9-11. They asked us to take one and give special thought to that person and what they did on that day. Someone actually brought this to me and being Italian I was moved to contact your family. I just want to say that your father must have been a brave man and made the ultimate sacrifice to help other Americans. My heart goes out to your family and hope that you are recovering from this unthinkable event. Sending Love and Prayers! Rita Bellino, Aspen Colorado

I am a cousin of Tommy Gambino. My dad and his dad were second cousins. I didn't see him often except at family events, yet, he left an impression on me. As a little girl I thought it was cool to have a cousin who was a fireman. He did always have a smile on his face and enjoyed making people laugh. He had an easy personality that made you feel comfortable. There isn't a day that passes that I don't remember him or the sacrifice that he made on 9-11. He is truly a hero and I am honored to say that he was my cousin. My heart goes out to his wife Janet and his two sons, Thomas and Brian. Ironically, I lost my dad to cancer on 09-09-01. I grieved for my dad as well as all those who lost a loved one on 9-11. May his soul rest in peace.

I was a friend of Thomas' son, Brian. I live in Chicago, Illinois, and I've been trying to get a hold of him. If anyone knows how I could reach Brian Gambino, my name is Aaron Goodrich, and I know him from St.Judes.... I'm just wondering how he's doing. 815-600-2169 is my telephone number. Thank you.

Tommy was one of the greatest men who have ever walked upon the face of this earth. He was a true friend of the highest moral caliber. His wonderful personality and pleasant demeanor endeared him to all who knew him. I always enjoyed his company and had some great times with him. Lots of laughs, he was always kind, polite, truthful, and honorable. He was a terrific athlete as well, a powerful man who was at peace with everyone. He had no vices, and he certainly was a living standard to whom many looked up to. I knew him for more than thirty years. Class of '72. He will be greatly missed.

Tommy and I went to high school together and hung out at the bowling alley as well as the Dale lounge. Tommy was a great person, and I am sure he was a great husband and father. My heart goes out to all his family. He will not be forgotten.

I went to school with Thomas, Farmingdale High School.  At our 30th reunion in 2002, we said a pray for him and all the others who lost their lives in this tragedy.  He was a very nice person, funny and fun to be around.  My sincere sympathy goes to his family.

Post your memorial thoughts:

Share your feelings and memories of grief and sadness concerning the 9-11-2001 attack, or of positive memories.  If you knew this person, help us to build a small 'bio' of the person and share with us something about his/her life:

  • what kind of person he/she was,
  • what nice points you remember about him/her,
  • what kind of relationship you had with him/her,
  • what you two perhaps did together,
  • what he/she meant to you,
  • or other things about him/her might be especially encouraging for other people.

This web site is intended solely as a means of allowing all of us to express our grief and sympathy in behalf of the people who lost their lives, and also our love and compassion towards those who lost loved ones and friends in the 9/11/01 tragedy. The site is strictly for memorial mentions of those who passed away in the tragedy, not of other people who have passed away.

Our hearts are very touched with concern in behalf of those people, and it is to them that we dedicate this web site. It is not our intent to venture into the realms of WHO should face judgement, to take responsibility for those terrible events, because we have no way of knowing for sure who all might fall into that category. Therefore, any letters or notes written passing judgment upon any person or group will not be published on this site. We do NOT want this site to be a base for expressions of hatred, but only for expressions of LOVE!
