Looking through all sorts of photos today, one of us dancing the last time I saw you. I look at them with a smile and a tear. I miss you dealy, every day, and love you more than ever. My Santa. Your Sunshine.

Thank you for the Santa stories. It is great to know and sounds exactly like our Tommy. I will tell my parents, and thank you so much. We love and miss him every day, and hearing stories ... helps!

Hey Tommy,

I thought I'd share a story with those who hold you as close as I do. There are so many that I have a problem deciding which one to share, but I think the Santa Crawl is one of those worthy. In early December 2000, we decided to rent Santa outfits and hit NYC. The rules were that every story had to be new with every stop. We carried as many candy canes as possible and gave them out to all walking the street of NYC. One little girl asked us, "Does Santa love Jewish people, too?" Tommy without hesitation offered candy canes to her and her sister and her mom, saying, "Santa loves everyone." We walked bar to bar up the east side of Manhattan, gathering phone numbers and business cards. I remember hearing Tommy ask a very attractive lady who was sitting on his lap, "Have you been naughty or nice? Let's focus on the naughty." Another exchange of numbers. To make a "short story long," we hit the upper west side and finally SOHO. We walked arm in arm down the middle of W Broadway (with trendy shops and cafes). I recall that I had nothing left of my costume except my red pants; Tommy had his shirt. We were laughing as usual and managed a few more "I'd like to buy Santa a drink," stops.

I shared this story with my friends in Chicago and Orlando. There are two Santa Crawls in each city that Tommy is remembered with love.

Tommy:

I didn't have the pleasure of knowing you as an adult, only as a fellow schoolmate. Wanted to convey that I'm remembering that day. And still praying for you, all the other victims and their families. Wishing peace for one and all. God Bless.

Sarah

Tommy,

I thought each anniversary got easier, but my father recently died ... and was buried on the day that I met you. You both were the kindest, most compassionate people I have ever met.... I know he has finally met you, and I know I have two incredible angels watching over me.... I miss you both so much!

Dear Uncle Tommy,

Even though you are not here anymore, I still know you are watching over me. I love you and miss you so much. We had very good times together, and I love you! I only had about one dream with you in it. Please come into my dreams again. It makes me remember the times. I miss you.

Love,

Tommy,

Lately I've been giving e-mail advice to my niece, a high school sophomore having a hard time making friends and fitting in. It brought back a lot of memories. I hated so much about high school, but you were one of those rare kids, always kind. I can picture you so well, those glistening blue eyes. You'd turn around from your desk to face me, flash a smile, and crack a joke with a certain shy reserve. You were so smart that you made it all look so easy. I wish my niece would find her Tommy.

You're always there, Tommy....

Even though my part of our Egan family is living out in California, you and your family are in our thoughts and
prayers. We love all of you and hope in some small way to comfort your family.

Tommy,

I saw someone that looked like you drive by me on the highway today. I started to cry because I miss your handsome face so. I will never forget you. I miss your blue eyes. You were so funny and such a love to me. You cared about all of us so deeply, and we all miss you so. Like yesterday I can recount the memories in my head, but it hurts so ... knowing I won't see you again until I join you in heaven. Mom and Dad miss you so, as does Kerry and Chris and Jim. My children miss you and your funny ways, and my son Jason Thomas (J.T.) says he wanted to go fishing with you when I show him your fishing pictures. I love and miss you so. There was simply no one more fun or generous and so kind. I will never, ever forget. I miss and think of you each day.

Your sis,
Kathy

I will miss you very much and I think about the times you and the boys would hang out at the Brownstone and how much fun it was. You would make everyone laugh and have fun together. You alway treated me as a friend not just a bartender who waited on you. You also made me laugh when I was having a bad day.
  Love your friend

Post your memorial thoughts:

Share your feelings and memories of grief and sadness concerning the 9-11-2001 attack, or of positive memories.  If you knew this person, help us to build a small 'bio' of the person and share with us something about his/her life:

  • what kind of person he/she was,
  • what nice points you remember about him/her,
  • what kind of relationship you had with him/her,
  • what you two perhaps did together,
  • what he/she meant to you,
  • or other things about him/her might be especially encouraging for other people.

This web site is intended solely as a means of allowing all of us to express our grief and sympathy in behalf of the people who lost their lives, and also our love and compassion towards those who lost loved ones and friends in the 9/11/01 tragedy. The site is strictly for memorial mentions of those who passed away in the tragedy, not of other people who have passed away.

Our hearts are very touched with concern in behalf of those people, and it is to them that we dedicate this web site. It is not our intent to venture into the realms of WHO should face judgement, to take responsibility for those terrible events, because we have no way of knowing for sure who all might fall into that category. Therefore, any letters or notes written passing judgment upon any person or group will not be published on this site. We do NOT want this site to be a base for expressions of hatred, but only for expressions of LOVE!
