I went to elementary and high school with Tom Pat. We went to different colleges but reunited to teach at our alma mater, St. Helena's High School. He was my colleague and friend, a person who would cheer you up no matter how foul a mood you might be in. Tom Pat and I separated when we were both excessed because of budget cuts by St. Helena's. He found a career in business, and I continued to teach. Regretfully, I lost contact with him, but I did hear that he found a love and married.
Approximately a month after 9/11, I received a devastating e-mail telling me that Tom Pat was one of those missing after the collapse of the Twin Towers. Hope against reality proved to no avail, and it was with melancholy sorrow that I realized that the smiling, intelligent, sensitive being of Thomas Patrick Farrelly was no more. But he continues to live in my heart and memory, and he will continue to do so until I am no more.
Rest in peace, Tom Pat. The world lost a special person on 9/11.

Tom Pat and I began teaching at St Helena High School in the Bronx, New York, later called Msgr. Scanlan High School, in September, 1969. Tom was a novice Math teacher, and I was a new English teacher. There were several new teachers that year--I think about 12 of us all together. We had just graduated college; we of course were very young and were starting our life journey as teachers at a parish Catholic high school in the Bronx, New York. Tom was a good friend of an older and much admired English teacher, Bob Doyle. I had the privilege of becoming good friends with Tom Pat as well as Bob and later his brother, Joe Farrelly, who joined the social studies department of Saint Helena’s in 1971. I had the honor of going to Tom Pat’s wedding, and Tom and his wife and Joe and his wife also attended my wedding in 1975.
As years go by, as is often the case, we loose touch with many people whom we grew up with or knew when we were younger. I unfortunately lost touch with both Tom Pat and his brother Joe, and Bob Doyle passed away several years ago. I keep in touch with a few of the Marist brothers, some now at Molloy HS who we taught with many years ago at St Helena / Msgr Scanlan H.S., and a few years ago in a conversation with them, I became aware of Tom Pat’s untimely death on September 11th, 2001 at the World Trade Center.
Tom was a wonderful friend, and I mourn his loss. I extend my sincere and heartfelt condolences to his wife, his children, and his brother, Joe. If they at any time are reading this, I welcome them to please feel free to contact me at my email address, which is dudleyadavis (at) aol (dot) com. I welcome any communication.
I was thinking of Tom Pat today. I work in the Long Branch Pubic Schools in Long Branch, New Jersey. I man the library at one of the schools from 2:45 to 6 PM and noticed a book on a shelf about 9/11. I thought of Tom Pat and then a thought came to my mind: I wondered if there was a memorial page or something about Tom and 9/11. I went on the internet and found this memorial site. Again I express my heartfelt and sincere words of condolence to the family of a very good man, Thomas Patrick Farrelly. God bless him. May he have eternal peace and rest. May God take care of his wife, his children, and his brother Joe. My thoughts and prayers are for all of you.
God Bless you all, Tom Pat’s family, from an old friend and colleague of Tom from many years ago, I sincerely remain,
Dudley Davis

Tom was my math teacher at St. Helena's H.S. in the Bronx during the early 1970's. Tom was a great teacher and an even better person. I will always remember him fondly.

I grew up with Tom, but we all called him Pat. He was a really great guy that was always a friend. He was a fierce competitor, a man of integrity and someone I will never forget. We played and hung out together from grammar school through college. I did not realize he was a victim until recently. I lost touch with him over the years and now I regret it. I will pray for him and his family and I know that people who met him were touched by him. I can see his broad smile right now. Rest in peace, Pat.

Post your memorial thoughts:
Share your feelings and memories of grief and
sadness concerning the 9-11-2001 attack, or of positive memories. If you knew this
person, help us to build a small 'bio' of the person and share with
us something about his/her life:
- what kind of person he/she was,
- what nice points you remember about him/her,
- what kind of relationship you had with him/her,
- what you two perhaps did together,
- what he/she meant to you,
- or other things about him/her might be especially encouraging
for other people.
This web site is intended solely as a means of allowing all of us to express our grief and sympathy in behalf of the people who lost their lives, and also our love and compassion towards those who lost loved ones and friends in the 9/11/01 tragedy. The site is strictly for memorial mentions of those who passed away in the tragedy, not of other people who have passed away.
Our hearts are very touched with concern in behalf of those people, and it is to them that we dedicate this web site. It is not our intent to venture into the realms of WHO should face judgement, to take responsibility for those terrible events, because we have no way of knowing for sure who all might fall into that category. Therefore, any letters or notes written passing judgment upon any person or group will not be published on this site. We do NOT want this site to be a base for expressions of hatred, but only for expressions of LOVE!
