Hello. My name is Maureen Serrano, and I am the mother of a ten-year-old boy, Eric Moore. While I didn't have the pleasure of meeting Mr. Holohan, this past weekend my son had to do a 9/11 memorial poster for school. The children were given a name to go along with their poster, and it was my son's honor to be given Mr. Holohan's name. He put his heart and soul into this poster, and while it was a simple poster, with Mr. Holohan's name and the American Flag drawn in crayon, I wanted him to know exactly who this person was. I came across this beautiful site, and I just felt it was important for you to know that your son, friend, co-worker, etc. will never be forgotten. Even though we didn't know him, he made such an impact on my son. Eric had so many questions about him, and he was really interested in his life, and we both wanted you to know that we continue to pray for the families of all the victims from that horrible day.

Never forgotten.... Eight years later, and it still seems like it just happened. I think about you and what you did that day all the time.... You are a hero, and your sacrifice that day is truly appreciated....
Sitting around the station,
They joked, and they laughed,
Talked about the day
And what might lie ahead.
When the tone dropped,
They knew it was time to go,
Time to take care of business,
To answer a stranger's call.
Today was different:
This horror they did not know.
They arrived on the scene,
And looked up towards the sky.
This couldn't be happening—
No time to wonder why.
It seemed like just a bad dream,
Something completely unreal.
Their instincts kicked in:
Into the towers they went.
They gave up their lives,
So that others might live.
They put it all on the line
And gave everything they had to give.
True heroes without a doubt,
Their memories will always live.

I recently connected with an old friend, Chip's sister, and heard that Chip was one of the firefighters who gave his life in this attack. Chip remains a strong memory from my teenage years. Even almost eight years later, the news is devastating to me. No one will ever forget the people who passed, and especially those who gave their lives trying to save others. I know many who were there and survived that day. They owe their lives to Chip and others like him. My sincere belated sympathy to Chip's family and friends.

11/16/06
Our prayers are with the Thomas Holohan's family. I am a firefighter in Illinois, currently serving as Asst. Chief of a volunteer fire dept. I have been in the fire service for 32 years and think of the "911" event all the time. Our name has a unusual spelling and I often wonder if Thomas could be some distant relative. Again, He will always be in our prayers.

I believe that I spoke with Thomas several weeks prior to 9/11. I was calling various Holohan's searching for possible relatives. I just remember how sick I felt when I saw his name in the paper. No one will forget this awful day. My prayers go out to all of his friends and family. God Bless you all. Nancy

Post your memorial thoughts:
Share your feelings and memories of grief and
sadness concerning the 9-11-2001 attack, or of positive memories. If you knew this
person, help us to build a small 'bio' of the person and share with
us something about his/her life:
- what kind of person he/she was,
- what nice points you remember about him/her,
- what kind of relationship you had with him/her,
- what you two perhaps did together,
- what he/she meant to you,
- or other things about him/her might be especially encouraging
for other people.
This web site is intended solely as a means of allowing all of us to express our grief and sympathy in behalf of the people who lost their lives, and also our love and compassion towards those who lost loved ones and friends in the 9/11/01 tragedy. The site is strictly for memorial mentions of those who passed away in the tragedy, not of other people who have passed away.
Our hearts are very touched with concern in behalf of those people, and it is to them that we dedicate this web site. It is not our intent to venture into the realms of WHO should face judgement, to take responsibility for those terrible events, because we have no way of knowing for sure who all might fall into that category. Therefore, any letters or notes written passing judgment upon any person or group will not be published on this site. We do NOT want this site to be a base for expressions of hatred, but only for expressions of LOVE!
9-11Heroes.us is a personal effort, not a business, nor is the site dedicated to any specific person or persons. We will not post negative comments. Moreover, 9-11Heroes.us reserves the right to choose which comments to post and also to edit the comments for spelling, punctuation, grammar, or edit comments that are unkind or offensive in some manner.
