This is our way of expressing our sadness for every ones loss on 9/11. Marking the tenth anniversary here in grand rapids Michigan, there was a Healing Field that had flags with Bio. of every person lost. It gave a visual of how many people lost their lives that day. You could purchase a flag with attached bio for $75 and that money went to the first responders here in W. Michigan. We picked Thomas Kelly because he was a firefighter, and shared the name of my father who was given up for adoption in N.Y. That name was on him when left at the N.Y. Foundling home. His name was changed after being adopted. We have a special connection with that name. We are so sorry for the loss of Thomas Kelly and very proud of him. The best to his family and friends. Today, my husband Dave and I were a part of a 9/11 rememberance ride in Knoxville TN. Each rider got to choose a name tag of a fallen hero to ride as a shadow rider. The memory of Thomas W. Kelly was our shadow rider. There were over 1000 bikes that were there to remember those who lost loved ones and those who faded on that day. Though we never knew Mr. Kelly personally, we were honored to have him ride with us today. He will never be forgotten.

I write this in rememberance of my younger brother FF Thomas W. Kelly, who meant the world to me and our family. Tommy was not only a wonderful brother, uncle, son, husband and father, but a compasionate human being who always put others before himself. Starting with his love for his parents, his siblings and his wife and her family and his sons, and ending with his love for mankind. I was not surprised when I heard of his heroic actions on that horrible day. It is over 5 years later, and not a day goes by that I do not think of Tommy, and miss him. Please say a prayer for him and all the brave rescuers who did what they could so others would survive that day. There is no greater sacrifice a man can make than to give his life for another. We are proud of you and will always remember your brave acts of heroism on September 11, 2001.

--Maureen, Dennis, Billy, Bobby, Frankie, and our families.

Uncle Tom was a kind, thoughtful man with a big heart. He was a hard worker and tried to always do the best for his family. Since that horrible day the family will never be the same. We all love you and miss you dearly. You are a true hero who will never be forgotten.

A quiet, kind-hearted man. He grew up in Brooklyn, loved baseball, took care of his family. He was my Uncle. he is missed. Mare

Post your memorial thoughts:

Share your feelings and memories of grief and sadness concerning the 9-11-2001 attack, or of positive memories.  If you knew this person, help us to build a small 'bio' of the person and share with us something about his/her life:

  • what kind of person he/she was,
  • what nice points you remember about him/her,
  • what kind of relationship you had with him/her,
  • what you two perhaps did together,
  • what he/she meant to you,
  • or other things about him/her might be especially encouraging for other people.

This web site is intended solely as a means of allowing all of us to express our grief and sympathy in behalf of the people who lost their lives, and also our love and compassion towards those who lost loved ones and friends in the 9/11/01 tragedy. The site is strictly for memorial mentions of those who passed away in the tragedy, not of other people who have passed away.

Our hearts are very touched with concern in behalf of those people, and it is to them that we dedicate this web site. It is not our intent to venture into the realms of WHO should face judgement, to take responsibility for those terrible events, because we have no way of knowing for sure who all might fall into that category. Therefore, any letters or notes written passing judgment upon any person or group will not be published on this site. We do NOT want this site to be a base for expressions of hatred, but only for expressions of LOVE!

9-11Heroes.us is a personal effort, not a business, nor is the site dedicated to any specific person or persons. We will not post negative comments. Moreover, 9-11Heroes.us reserves the right to choose which comments to post and also to edit the comments for spelling, punctuation, grammar, or edit comments that are unkind or offensive in some manner. We are maintaining this site with our own money and time. We try to keep the advertisements to a minimum and we try to make them as unobtrusive as possible. The revenue goes back to maintaining this site.

Thank you for your understanding in these matters.
