I know Timmy as a friend, a man with a very kind and caring heart. I met him for the first time when he came to Kathmandu, Nepal to the Hotel Radisson. When I heard about all this, it was really a sad moment for me, and I will always feel sorry for losing such a kind person. He will always be alive in our hearts.

Timmy,

We think of you often, and we miss the friendship and scuba diving. You're always in our thoughts. We miss you and will never forget.

Haskell Family,

My son is a fireman at Sacramento City Fire Department in California. On Saturday, 09-11, my son and several other firemen from around the Sacramento region took part in a "9-11 Memorial Climb" in Sacramento. They wore their bunker gear and walked up 110 stories as a tribute. 343 firefighters wore a name of an FDNY firefighter that died in 2001 at the Twin Towers. My son, Timothy, wore Timothy Haskell's name. My son did not realize that I also had a bracelet with Timothy Haskell's name since shortly after this disaster in 2001. We want you to know, we have not, nor will we ever forget the ultimate sacrifice that the firefighters and their families had made that day. There is not a day that goes by that I don't think of FDNY and their families. My prayers are with you... all of you and please know all the way in California my firefighter son paid a very emotional tribute to your Hero Firefighter, Timothy Haskell.

A thank you to Dawn for posting the picture of your brother. Now I can put a face to the name I wear on my memorial bracelet. Someone in Cincinnati, Ohio thinks of your family often.

Dear Haskell Family,
Today I did a remembrance walk at Red Rocks Amphitheater in Morrison Colorado. I live in Littleton, Colorado, but was born and raised in N. Merrick NY. My family still lives there. My father, a volunteer firefighter for almost 50 years, and my brother a NYC detective. Being far from "home" when this happened was difficult. I have always wanted to mark this day in a special way. Today I got that opportunity. I was given Tim Haskell's photo to wear. I did not know him, but wanted to do my best in his honor. I climbed 9 laps of Red Rocks, which is equivalent to 110 stories. This was a large challenge for me, I am 44, but do not exercise as I should. My 22-year old daughter was hoping to be there to keep me going, but she is in Fire Academy training as I type and was unable to attend. What an honor to walk for Tim and all the brave and innocent people. May God Bless you all. Sincerely, Dawn

I wear a silver remembrance bracelet every September 11 to honor Timothy and his family and the sacrifice they made to America that day in 2001. God bless you all.

Tim,

Nine years have passed, and yet I still remember all of our funny conversations, scuba diving, watching fireworks out on your boat, and how you were never afraid of your job. You just loved it. Wherever you are, know that your life impacted so many people. Until we are all together again, we miss you.

Never forget you Tim.

The Best,

9 years ago I was shopping in a store - not too long after 9/11/01. There was a basket which held silver bracelets with the names of each 9/11 victim engraved upon them. I chose two - one for myself and one for my mother. My mother's bracelet actually held two names - Timothy and Thomas Haskell - both fire fighters. As a mother I knew she would know more about what it would feel like to lose a child - or horrors - both children. Each year on 9/11 we call and remind each other to wear our bracelets and say a prayer for the lives lost and they lives they touched.

To the Haskell Family - I could never imagine the pain and loss you have felt. I only hope and pray that God has made you aware of how your children blessed the lives of others. May God bless you always.

I did not know you, Timothy, but your picture shows you were a kind soul to give up your own life to save many strangers. You're an amazing person for what you did, God bless your family.

Another year has passed, another year gone by, and while everyone lives their lives, it still doesn't lessen the sacrifice or the remembrance that 9/11 holds. I would have liked to have met you and your brother. I'm also a firefighter — your grandfather's sister is my wife's grandmother — and I would like the family to contact me if at all possible.

I remember you from High school. We weren't friends, but we weren't enemies either. You will always be remembered.

Not a day goes by that we don't think of Timmy and Tommy--while most of our memories are filled with laughter, they are all tainted with sadness. I have just found this site and the comments posted bring a sense of comfort, especially at this time of year. So, on behalf of the Haskell family, I thank everyone for their thoughts, prayers and most especially, keeping the memory of Tommy and Timmy alive.

Post your memorial thoughts:

Share your feelings and memories of grief and sadness concerning the 9-11-2001 attack, or of positive memories.  If you knew this person, help us to build a small 'bio' of the person and share with us something about his/her life:

  • what kind of person he/she was,
  • what nice points you remember about him/her,
  • what kind of relationship you had with him/her,
  • what you two perhaps did together,
  • what he/she meant to you,
  • or other things about him/her might be especially encouraging for other people.

This web site is intended solely as a means of allowing all of us to express our grief and sympathy in behalf of the people who lost their lives, and also our love and compassion towards those who lost loved ones and friends in the 9/11/01 tragedy. The site is strictly for memorial mentions of those who passed away in the tragedy, not of other people who have passed away.

Our hearts are very touched with concern in behalf of those people, and it is to them that we dedicate this web site. It is not our intent to venture into the realms of WHO should face judgement, to take responsibility for those terrible events, because we have no way of knowing for sure who all might fall into that category. Therefore, any letters or notes written passing judgment upon any person or group will not be published on this site. We do NOT want this site to be a base for expressions of hatred, but only for expressions of LOVE!
