I just watched last weeks TV show CSI:NY and during the 9/11 memorial at the end they showed some of the names of the victims on the Memorial Wall and Vernons was one of them so I just felt like reading a little about him. God Bless and Thank-You!

Just watched CSI NY, which did a moving tenth anniversary tribute to the first responders who lost their lives on 9/11. During the show, I noticed Vernon Cherry among those being honored on the Brooklyn Wall of Remembrance. My thanks goes out to him, and my heart goes out to his family and friends, as well as to all the other families who had losses. God Bless you all. Matthew (Studio City, CA)

Still in bed this morning (9-11-2011) with the TV on, listening to NBC, I decided to switch channels and landed on CBS. Just then, they were reading the names and VERNON PAUL CHERRY and his picture came up on the screen. I realized then it was God and His angel that told me to change that channel in remeberance of my beloved brother Vernon.. Im reminded me that God cares for things like that in our lives.

I was going through photos of 9/11 that a friend took when helping during this tragedy. I am sorry that it took 10 years but I have a photograph written in the dust on a window that says Vernon Cherry Call home FDN4 and I thought you would like to have it. Love, and thinking of his family at this time, Debbie

I remember groing up hanging out infront of the novelty with Ryan and I
remember Vernon coming across and telling us stories about work and he
was always a cool guy, he would hang out for a little while to see what was going on, everytime he would leave to go back across to his building he would look back and tell us to stay out of trouble, a great man lost to soon, I have a friend who works in Vernons fire house and he said people who worked with him still talk about him and always have great things to say... RIP Vernon a great man!

I never met Mr. Cherry but "knew" him through his work at Songs of Love. I have worn a memorial bracelet with his information for the past, almost ten, years. As such, I think about him each day. For me, his life and his work personify the sacrifice made by so many of his brother and sister firefighters. My thanks to him, his family and all the others who gave their lives for others.
My thoughts, as the tenth anniversary approaches, are with his family and friends.

My husband Mike played with Vernon in Night Moves, a wedding band, for five years....
VERNON was an all around great guy...
He was fun, handsome, smart, and had many diverse interests. He was a great singer and all around performer. His picture hangs in my home...He is always talked about and missed.

Post your memorial thoughts:
Share your feelings and memories of grief and
sadness concerning the 9-11-2001 attack, or of positive memories. If you knew this
person, help us to build a small 'bio' of the person and share with
us something about his/her life:
- what kind of person he/she was,
- what nice points you remember about him/her,
- what kind of relationship you had with him/her,
- what you two perhaps did together,
- what he/she meant to you,
- or other things about him/her might be especially encouraging
for other people.
This web site is intended solely as a means of allowing all of us to express our grief and sympathy in behalf of the people who lost their lives, and also our love and compassion towards those who lost loved ones and friends in the 9/11/01 tragedy. The site is strictly for memorial mentions of those who passed away in the tragedy, not of other people who have passed away.
Our hearts are very touched with concern in behalf of those people, and it is to them that we dedicate this web site. It is not our intent to venture into the realms of WHO should face judgement, to take responsibility for those terrible events, because we have no way of knowing for sure who all might fall into that category. Therefore, any letters or notes written passing judgment upon any person or group will not be published on this site. We do NOT want this site to be a base for expressions of hatred, but only for expressions of LOVE!
