Again, as I posted above, I am wearing my mercy band and thinking of Vinod. A man I never heard of or knew anything about until the first anniversary of 9/11 when I received my bracelet.
Vinod will never be forgotten. I think of him often and hope his family is doing well.
RIP

RIP, Vinod. Wishing your family and friends strength and courage on the 10th anniversary of your death -- though I did not know you.

I did not know Vinod but this morning I ran in a 9/11 rememberance race and I was chosen to sponsor him. I was proud to run for this man and I hope that he was proud of me as well. My prayers and love go out to all of his family and friends. God bless.

I know Vinod as my classmate in school and college. He was a very nice person. I didn't know about his death for a long time. Recently when I came to know about the news it was shocking.  I have never been in touch with him after college days but it saddens my heart that it has happened to my classmate.

I knew Vinod from Midland, MI. He was a very funny and friendly person. It's very fresh in my memory, the lunch we had and the car ride in his new Camry, a day prior to his departure to NY.

Vinod, to this day, your departure remains an open wound. R.I.P.

I didn't know Vinod, but since September of 2002, every September 11th, I have worn a mercy band bracelet with his name on it. Once again I am thinking about him and can only hope his family knows he hasn't been forgotten.

I had ran into Vinod a couple of times in 1998-99 in Midland, MI. He was a funny, decent nice guy. I would never forget him as he is such a big part of my 9-11 memory. I was watching the news on 9-11 here on west coast and 2nd plane hit WTC. I had no idea Vinod was there. I wish he wasn't.

Vinod, I will not forget you. Never, Never. Sadly, you are my closest connection into this tragedy.

I knew him as a gentleman who was nice as a friend to many of us in his home town, a cool person who had worked his way in a systematic manner. We were shocked and saddened by his untimely departure. We miss you, Vinod.

It saddens me to think of all the life that was snuffed out that day.  We can only hold onto the belief that they are in a much better place R.I.P VINOD XXX

Vinod Kumar Parakkat

Vinod is a member of our Parakkat Family in India. Though I don't know him personally, he is known to my father, Parakkat Sasi Menon. I am one of his cousins.

It's sad that a promising life and career of a youth had to be taken by a group of some reckless religious fanatics.

Hope he is in a better place and may his soul rest in peace

Post your memorial thoughts:

Share your feelings and memories of grief and sadness concerning the 9-11-2001 attack, or of positive memories.  If you knew this person, help us to build a small 'bio' of the person and share with us something about his/her life:

  • what kind of person he/she was,
  • what nice points you remember about him/her,
  • what kind of relationship you had with him/her,
  • what you two perhaps did together,
  • what he/she meant to you,
  • or other things about him/her might be especially encouraging for other people.

This web site is intended solely as a means of allowing all of us to express our grief and sympathy in behalf of the people who lost their lives, and also our love and compassion towards those who lost loved ones and friends in the 9/11/01 tragedy. The site is strictly for memorial mentions of those who passed away in the tragedy, not of other people who have passed away.

Our hearts are very touched with concern in behalf of those people, and it is to them that we dedicate this web site. It is not our intent to venture into the realms of WHO should face judgement, to take responsibility for those terrible events, because we have no way of knowing for sure who all might fall into that category. Therefore, any letters or notes written passing judgment upon any person or group will not be published on this site. We do NOT want this site to be a base for expressions of hatred, but only for expressions of LOVE!

9-11Heroes.us is a personal effort, not a business, nor is the site dedicated to any specific person or persons. We will not post negative comments. Moreover, 9-11Heroes.us reserves the right to choose which comments to post and also to edit the comments for spelling, punctuation, grammar, or edit comments that are unkind or offensive in some manner.
