Dear Wendy,

I never had the opportunity to meet you, but if you were anything like your sister, Ada, who was my boss at the High School for Leadership and Public Service, then you were truly an amazing individual. I met your sister shortly after you went to be with your Father in heaven and she and her students relocated to Fashion Industries HS where I worked. When I met her and saw the woman she was especially when she spoke of you, I knew I had to work with her and when she returned to Leadership I happily went with her. Two years she invited me to stand with your family inside Ground Zero with her as we remembered you together. You are loved by so many, Wendy. Even by those who never met you, but knew you through your big sister. I know you are in the presence of God right now and pray for only peace, joy, and love for your family. Let them be encouraged knowing you are smiling down on them each day. I know you were the Angel God used on September 11, 2001 to help guide Ada Rosario Dolch, the hundred of students and staff to safety for Leadership HS that day. Thank You so much.

Wendy, on this anniversary of 9-11 my thoughts, and prayers are with your beloved Rosario family. Many, many years have gone by since your father was my pastor @ Temple Emmanuel on 55th Street in Brooklyn, New York. My memories of you are of a lovely young girl, full of life... Your sister Miriam, and I became friends during that time. I was teaching at a school in Florida, when I received a call informing me of the horror... As a native New Yorker, I was shaken by the news. Especially, when told you were a victim of this terrible act of terrorism. You are loved and missed by many but, we know that you are with our heavenly father, where we will meet again someday... Madylene Romero-Anderson

Dear Wendy,                                              Every year on the anniversary of 9-11 my thoughts, and prayers are with your beloved Rosario family... Many, many years have gone by since your father was my pastor at Emmanuel on 55th street in Brooklyn. You were just a young girl then, Your sister Miriam, and I were friends... I was in the middle of teaching @ Osceola High School in Kissimmee, Florida when I received a call informing me about the horror... I was in total disbelief upon hearing you were there, a victim of that terrible day... My only memories of you are of a beautiful young girl, full of life... You are now with our Lord Jesus Christ, where we will meet again someday... Love, Madylene Romero Anderson

Wendy and her family used to go to our church (Fuente de Salvacion) in Brooklyn many years ago. After church we used to go and hang out in the Hernandez home, and we used to love doing things together and intellect! She was a very pretty young lady with long black silky hair, and she always used to smile so beautifully! She was funny and very outgoing ... with so much love to give. I remember when she and her sister first walked into the church for the first time and everyone turned their heads just to stare ... priceless! I had lost contact because I moved to the Bronx and got married and had children. I never stayed in touch, and I regret that I didn't! Now she's gone, and I never got to say good-bye! May the lord keep her beautiful soul in his hands.... May god bless her! R.I.P., Wendy.

With love,
Maria Carrion-Hazel

Dearest Wendy,

I was in school on that horrible day. Mrs Dolch is a very strong woman, and her being your sister, I know you are, too. I was very very blessed to have had a principal like Mrs. Dolch. She took very good care of her students, and I know you would be so proud of her. We all know that you're in a better place now. I ask God to keep you in peace and bless the ones you left behind. You will always be missed. Your sister loves you very much, and we love you very much. Look down on us and give us a huge smile. Peace....

Hey, Wendy,

It's been almost eight years. Bon Bon and I are still going on vacation, something that we all loved to do. I still talk to Richard, also, crazy as ever! I will be in your state of NJ this September 11. I still have your little bear that you gave me. He has a bracelet on that Bonnie gave me with your name on it. Miss you.

Love,
Pooky

It's about to be eight years since 9/11, and I still remember how devastated my dear principal, Ada Rosario Dolch, was when news broke out about what happened at the World Trade Center. I never forgot your name, and as I searched for Mrs. Dolch, I came across this memorial page. May god bless your soul, Wendy. I'm sure you will never be forgotten!

Wendy,

You would have been so proud of your big sis the other day. She had to speak at a press conference at city hall. She spoke of you and how much your are loved and missed by all of us. I can't believe it is almost seven years. It seems like yesterday. I will be out of town on 9/11 this year. I hope Miriam will be okay. We love you and think of you every day.

Your loving brother-in-law,
Terry Paine

It is strange to know that somebody with the same name has lost her life on the cruel attack of 9/11, which after 7 years still keeps me thinking. The pain of her loss will never go away, but you learn to live with it. My heart goes out for her family.

I came across your name purely by chance. I hadn't realised that someone with the same surname as me lost their life in the WTC. Wakeford is a fairly uncommon name from Sussex (the "land of the south Saxons") in the far south of England, where I was born. So, from your ancestral homeland, we will remember you with love and pride.

Wendy,

I'm missing you very much today. I wish you were here! I have so much to share with you--all good things, of course.

All my love,
Miriam, your sis

Dearest Wendy,

Missing you terribly. Crazy how that works.

Love you,
Big sis, Ada

Dearest titi Wendy,

I think of you every day I look at my wrist. I haven't taken off your memorial bracelet in 6 years, and I don't know if I ever will. I just framed a photo of you, me, and Miriam from a Sea Gate beach outing, and I put it next to my bed. I miss your laugh; I miss your booty shaking dancing; and the photo is to remind me to never forget your spirit.

Love always,
Lauren

I just felt the need to stop and pay my respects to a girl that shared my name.

Dearest Wendy,

It's June 2007, my 50th birthdy is around the corner and you won't be here to celebrate with me. I will miss you terribly on that day. I miss you each and every day. Not a day goes by that I don't think of you. I've been in San Antonio now eight years and you would love this place. Hey, guess who's coming to SAT for my birthday (Ada, Norm, Ed, Nerd with their two beautiful girls, Maya and Sofia, Clara, Paul, Maegan and my favorite nephew Christopher). Now you see why you'll be missed.

I Miss you so much and Love you Sis,
Miriam

Wendy, it has been almost 5 years now and it still is hard when it gets to this time of the year. We will never forget and hopefully everyone else will not forget. Love Terry

My Sister I am thinking about you and missing you.  My heart is heavy as I wonder how much enjoyment my little girls would have had with their Titi Wendy.  I will share you memory with them so that they will know something about your love for and ability to bring laughter to children.  You are not forgotten.  Love always, your brother, Edwin.

Wendy's memory will live on forever in the hearts and minds of all that love her dearly, especially her family.  We would surely give any thing and every thing we could to have Wendy back in our lives.  We are sad that she cannot see her nieces and nephews grow up, go off to college, etc.  Wendy loved each and every one of them dearly and they loved her back just as much.

Share your feelings and memories of grief and sadness concerning the 9-11-2001 attack, or of positive memories.  If you knew this person, help us to build a small 'bio' of the person and share with us something about his/her life:

  • what kind of person he/she was,
  • what nice points you remember about him/her,
  • what kind of relationship you had with him/her,
  • what you two perhaps did together,
  • what he/she meant to you,
  • or other things about him/her might be especially encouraging for other people.

Our hearts are very touched with concern in behalf of those people, and it is to them that we dedicate this web site. Therefore, any letters or notes written passing judgment upon any person or group will not be published on this site. We do NOT want this site to be a base for expressions of hatred, but only for expressions of LOVE!
