Happy 10 years in Heaven Billy! Just had dinner with your cousins Bullet Bob and Loretta a few weeks ago and we spoke about you. I used to call you "Ernie" because when you were a kid you looked like "Ernie" from MY THREE SONS with your horn-rimmed glasses...Anyway, till we meet again, my friend, GOD BLESS

My dearest love,

I can't believe it's been almost 9 years.... I miss you so much.... You know, every time the phone rings, part of me hopes it's you on the other end. I love you so much.... Your sons are always with me.... Oh, Bill, how I wish you were here physically with us! What I would give to hold you again.... I love you, sweetie.... I'll be with you when my journey here on earth ends.... Be patient....

Love,
Liz

Yesterday (11-23-09) I had a business meeting with a former associate that I have known for many years. We started talking about people that we worked with in the past at a company called Samincorp/Columbian Enterprises. I asked him if he knew where Bill Gardner was these days. My heart fell to my feet when he told me about Bill. I believe it was around 1985(ish) when I worked with Bill. I have very fond memories of Bill, whom I remember to be a very kind and gentle man. My thoughts go out to all of his family and friends.

I know nothing about this man or who he was, but out of random selection, I am sure I picked a true American. Thank you for making this country so great. I am only 18 years old and still in high school, and I can tell everyone one thing about the events: They will never be forgotten....

Dear Bill,

Seven years now and so much has happened.... Greg is out of college and planning on leaving NY, and Andrew graduated high school and is attending college. Your nephews are all in college.... We all miss you very much.... There still isn't a day that goes by that I don't think about you, and when times get hectic, I always pray that you look out for me and our boys.... We love you and cherish every moment we had with you....

Love always,
Liz, Gregory, and Andrew xoxoxo

While doing a search on my great-grandfather, William Arthur Gardner (25 Aug 1855-1 Sep 1920, Ill/Missouri), I came across your site. My heart was touched. God bless you, your boys, your family, and your future. I KNOW we will be reunited in the next life! I look forward to meeting my great-grandfather as you look forward to that day also. I don't know if we're related ... but God bless you!

My sweet Bill,

Six years, and it still hurts as much as it did on that dreadful day.... Gregory, Andrew, and I talk about our memories we had with you. We laugh and get teary eyed, but we do remember what you meant to us.... We will never be the same ... but we will never allow our hearts to be tainted with hate.... We miss you so much, and always know we love you....

Your family,
Liz, Greg, and Andrew XOXOXO

Dear Billy,

I love you and miss you terribly...Five years and still the horror of what you went through, still fills my soul...I wish I could have protected you...The boys and I are so proud of who you were...What a wonderful human being you were...so kind and sweet...No one could ever understand what it meant to have you in our lives...and what it meant to lose you...

I love you, I love you, I love you....Forever...

Rest in Peace my sweet husband,

Liz

Bill was married to me, Liz, on April 24, 1983.  We were blessed with 2 wonderful sons, Gregory '85 and Andrew '89.  We loved each other more than anything.  We were a very close, loving family.  Bill loved working at Cantor and he loved the World Trade Center.  He would call me everyday at least 3 times a day.  He would always say in one of his phone calls, Babe, I'm on top of the World.

He was a great husband and the best father two sons could ever have.  He was extremely smart-he graduated from Fordham University in '77 in the top of his class.  He loved to paint and garden and be with his sons and me.  That was his life "US".  We miss him terribly but we know now that Bill is in a place where there is no hate or disease only love and he's safe.  I know he watches over us and I'm sure he gets a laugh every now and then when one of us does something silly, he is still on top of the world.  We love him and will forever carry his smile in our hearts.  He will always belong to us.

Post your memorial thoughts:

Share your feelings and memories of grief and sadness concerning the 9-11-2001 attack, or of positive memories.  If you knew this person, help us to build a small 'bio' of the person and share with us something about his/her life:

  • what kind of person he/she was,
  • what nice points you remember about him/her,
  • what kind of relationship you had with him/her,
  • what you two perhaps did together,
  • what he/she meant to you,
  • or other things about him/her might be especially encouraging for other people.

This web site is intended solely as a means of allowing all of us to express our grief and sympathy in behalf of the people who lost their lives, and also our love and compassion towards those who lost loved ones and friends in the 9/11/01 tragedy. The site is strictly for memorial mentions of those who passed away in the tragedy, not of other people who have passed away.

Our hearts are very touched with concern in behalf of those people, and it is to them that we dedicate this web site. It is not our intent to venture into the realms of WHO should face judgement, to take responsibility for those terrible events, because we have no way of knowing for sure who all might fall into that category. Therefore, any letters or notes written passing judgment upon any person or group will not be published on this site. We do NOT want this site to be a base for expressions of hatred, but only for expressions of LOVE!
