Bill and I worked together at Prudential Securities, long before he became famous at Cantor and as a "talking head." Miss your smiling face, buddy, and when it is my time to join you, I will buy you that beer I promised once....

A good friend who seemed liked you knew a lifetime from the first hello. He always made time for a friend.

Miss ya buddy!

I used to exchange emails will Bill when he wrote for realmoney.com. He was a nice guy, and he certainly had some good takes on the markets.

His last piece for RM, "It Could Be Worse", is sadly ironic. I can't find a copy on the web, but I still have it.

Rest in peace, Bill!

I was privileged to meet Bill in March 2001 at a UCP benefit recognizing Todd Harrison for his generosity. I was in a wheelchair, Bill stopped to visit and stayed. We became friends and I visited him 18 days before 9/11 in his office. We went to Battery Park for a few hours that evening. Before we parted, we paused share a brief prayer. I will always remember that special time. I will always remember his compassionate kindness to others. We love you and miss you, dear Bill.

Today, as a typical day began, I was inexplicably drawn to one of the conversations I remember having with Bill in his Prudential Securities days. I smiled remembering his good humor and strong opinions. I think I will smile a bit more today because of Bill.

Although I never met you, by reading your son's thoughts of you today, I know you were an amazing man. Bless Mo, may there be nothing but great news today.

Bill was a great guy with a fabulous mind for the markets. His outlook on life was also positive and well-documented.

Just listened to some music on the computer today from Enrique Iglesias and "Hero" came on. I searched the web and came across a well-written note from 2006 from Bill Meehan (William J's son) on Minayanville. All I can say is that I am speechless still, over 7 years from this very, very bad event taking place. Just speechless...

As a UK reader of realmoney.com, to which Bill was a contributor, I would occasionally send feedback to Bill. He always had the courtesy to send a thoughtful reply, and I still think of him and miss his kind face on the site.

Wow... It seems like only yesterday.  As an analyst myself, Bill was one of my favorite "reads" for financial wisdom, and I read hours every day just like he did. He was right at the top in terms of the sheer quality of his thoughts.

But what struck me most about him was his heartwarming sincerity and humor, both wrapped up into a single wonderful package. I never met him personally, but anyone who read him could still tell he was a one great guy.

Bill,

I miss you Bud, I wonder how Billy is doing, is he still in college?. I look at my own daughter, the same age as Katie, and I wonder if there's a shoulder for her as she moves through the High School years, and Danny, he should be on his way to bigger things these days. Do they share your love of Rock and Roll? Every September 11th I think of you my friend. I called you from Minnesota that morning as soon as the first plane hit and got your voice mail. I never thought it would be the last time.

Thanks for the laughs.

For Maureen, there is nothing I can say. I hope the memories bring laughter to ease pain and wish there was something I could do beyond words.

I miss you bud.

Matt

Hi,

Bill Meehan was a frequent guest on the show that I produced and was anchored by Neil Cavuto. Bill was a tremendous source of knowledge about what was happening on the street and a smart guy, w/ a great smile and an easy laugh. He was generous to us with his time and talents and we'll never forget him. We miss him.

Best regards,

Gresh

Post your memorial thoughts:

Share your feelings and memories of grief and sadness concerning the 9-11-2001 attack, or of positive memories.  If you knew this person, help us to build a small 'bio' of the person and share with us something about his/her life:

  • what kind of person he/she was,
  • what nice points you remember about him/her,
  • what kind of relationship you had with him/her,
  • what you two perhaps did together,
  • what he/she meant to you,
  • or other things about him/her might be especially encouraging for other people.

This web site is intended solely as a means of allowing all of us to express our grief and sympathy in behalf of the people who lost their lives, and also our love and compassion towards those who lost loved ones and friends in the 9/11/01 tragedy. The site is strictly for memorial mentions of those who passed away in the tragedy, not of other people who have passed away.

Our hearts are very touched with concern in behalf of those people, and it is to them that we dedicate this web site. It is not our intent to venture into the realms of WHO should face judgement, to take responsibility for those terrible events, because we have no way of knowing for sure who all might fall into that category. Therefore, any letters or notes written passing judgment upon any person or group will not be published on this site. We do NOT want this site to be a base for expressions of hatred, but only for expressions of LOVE!

9-11Heroes.us is a personal effort, not a business, nor is the site dedicated to any specific person or persons. We will not post negative comments. Moreover, 9-11Heroes.us reserves the right to choose which comments to post and also to edit the comments for spelling, punctuation, grammar, or edit comments that are unkind or offensive in some manner.
