Today I did the NFFF Memorial Stair Climb in Indy at FDIC. It was an absolute honor and something I will never forget. You will never be forgotten as long as I am alive FF WILLIAM KRUKOWSKI!

Dear Billy,
Today, 10 years later, I cried as much as I did when they read your name for the first time.
Although we drifted apart in our adulthood, you were such an important part of my growing up.
From when we shared a cubby together in kindergarten, to being each others first kiss, (I know, I promised I would never tell) to you teaching me how to hitch-hike, (we never had the guts to actually do it, but we sure thought we were cool.)
You live every day not only in my heart, but in the hearts of my two little girls who are only beginning to navigate school and growing up. They love seeing school pictures of us and hearing about our adventures when we were their age.
And as I teach them what it means to truly be a hero, I am grateful that I have you as an example to show them.
You will live not only forever in my heart, but in theirs as well.
Missing you,
Suzanne

Morning Light
I can’t mess with morning light
When you are there to greet me
Look to the beginning of each day
Seeing you behind my eyelids
The fight for something more than before
Coming thru the shadows of the night
Treasures of hope and faith ignite
On the wings of dawn
Hold a picture of you in mind’s eye
You are flowing with me on my journey
Love, faith, and gratitude
The swiftest flame has not impeded our journey
Vapors rising, all on fire, we will forever mingle together
Love, your sister ginny

Are you lingering in the ray of blue light?
Or did you enter heaven with lightening speed?
Before you left this earth you built a strong body and enhanced your spirit.
Did you complete your give-and-take accounts?
Or do you still visit in reincarnation to act as a spiritual guide?
You know MOM sees you in all butterflies-
You follow her everywhere - don't you?
I see you bathing in intense levels of happiness
You know why, don't you?
You followed a path of action, knowledge, and devotion.
Miss you Bro - Luv you more,
Ginny

This poem was written by Bill's sister Virginia in 2001:
Into the fire
Up the stairs
I see you every day
There was no other way
It is who you are...
My brother, a man propelled by integrity
I miss your smile.
Your sense of humor
Your natural gestures and outrageous wit
I dream you alive every day
You will always remain in my mind, heart and spirit.
Love, Your sister Ginny

Today is 9/10/09, the eve of 9/11. I miss Bill and think of him as much now as ever. He was so special and a really good, honorable person.
Bill,
You're in my thoughts each and every day.
Love you forever and always,
Mom

To the outside world we all grow old, but not to brothers and sisters. We know each other as we always were. We know each others hearts. We share private thoughts. We remember secrets and hold them close. I have learned to live outside the touch of time—to keep you with me each day.
Love,
Your sister, Ginny

My son and I visit ground zero every six months. We travel from Colorado to visit our family in Huntington and always pay our respects to our cousin Bill. Here in Colorado Springs, we have a memorial, which has his name engraved on a wall. I take such pride in letting my colleagues and friends out here know that our family is so very proud of Bill and his spirit lives on.... XXOO

I did not know Mr. W. Krukowski, but I wanted to say "thank you" from the bottom of my heart to him and his family. This past year on Sept. 11, 343 of my fellow firefighters and I climbed in honor of those who passed away in the attacks. I am proud to say that I wore William Krukowski's name on my gear as I climbed the 110 flights of our tallest building in Denver, CO. I wanted to let the family know how much love and appreciation was felt for your son and husband that day and every day forward. Again "thank you" for protecting us on that horrible day of 9/11. We will never forget!

I promise not to let the bad guys win. I think of your smile every day and the sense of safety you projected for all those around you.
I love you and miss you,
Your sister

To Firefighter Krukowski's family:
I am honored to wear one of the 9-11 bracelets with William's name on it. It has been the first piece of jewelry I put on every morning since May 2002. I think of him every day and ask him to watch over you, and me, from his place in heaven. My family has had both firefighters and police officers, so it is a personal wish for God to bless them all.
Sincerely,
Nancy G. (Connecticut)

I went to OLBS with Billy (graduated 1979). We were in Miss Hearn's class. I was so sorry to hear of this tragedy. He was a nice guy, always polite and pleasant. I am so sorry and your family is in my prayers.

Thinking of you Bill and missing you so much. I miss your wonderful smile and disposition. I miss your honesty and dedication; which you applied to all situations. You were one of a kind. I can only hope that your son Billy follows in your footsteps with regard to love and caring.
You meant the world to me. Love you much

Post your memorial thoughts:
Share your feelings and memories of grief and
sadness concerning the 9-11-2001 attack, or of positive memories. If you knew this
person, help us to build a small 'bio' of the person and share with
us something about his/her life:
- what kind of person he/she was,
- what nice points you remember about him/her,
- what kind of relationship you had with him/her,
- what you two perhaps did together,
- what he/she meant to you,
- or other things about him/her might be especially encouraging
for other people.
This web site is intended solely as a means of allowing all of us to express our grief and sympathy in behalf of the people who lost their lives, and also our love and compassion towards those who lost loved ones and friends in the 9/11/01 tragedy. The site is strictly for memorial mentions of those who passed away in the tragedy, not of other people who have passed away.
Our hearts are very touched with concern in behalf of those people, and it is to them that we dedicate this web site. It is not our intent to venture into the realms of WHO should face judgement, to take responsibility for those terrible events, because we have no way of knowing for sure who all might fall into that category. Therefore, any letters or notes written passing judgment upon any person or group will not be published on this site. We do NOT want this site to be a base for expressions of hatred, but only for expressions of LOVE!
