I am very sorry that you had to die in such a nasty way. I am praying for you, your family, and all of the others lost in this tradgedy. It sounds like you were a great person. Kansas misses you and so does everyone else.

"This was meant to be heartfelt, not offensive in anyway."

Uncle Bill, for me, was and is a role model. I try to incorporate his life's footsteps into my world. When I've read from time to time the writings of others about my uncle, I easily see Uncle Bill in their words. I believe he was the most saintly person I've known, a heart always striving and walking the line in life. I miss him and feel his presence as I walk my life.

I just learned this weekend (June 23, 2007)at a Marymount College, Salina, Kansas, Class of '67 reunion, that Bill was in the World Trade Center on September 11th. A group of college students went to western Kansas for a party on a long weekend during the summer of 1966 and I met Bill. Later on in the fall of 1966, Bill was my escort at the Marymount Ball as I was elected Miss Marymount. What a wonderful person he was! Bill was a friend of Jerry Fickel whose sister Ruth was my roommate at Marymount. He was in our thoughts this weekend as we were passing around pictures with him in them and he will be in my prayers as I visit the World Trade Center site at the end of July. -Maryann Trausch Lowe

Bill was a senior in high school at St Xaviers in Junction City, Kansas. I was a freshman. He always was nice and considerate. He did not care who you were. He would say hello to you. I remember the farm were he lived with his family. We had a real nice time there on the hayrides. I know you are deeply missed. May you rest in peace.

Post your memorial thoughts:

Share your feelings and memories of grief and sadness concerning the 9-11-2001 attack, or of positive memories.  If you knew this person, help us to build a small 'bio' of the person and share with us something about his/her life:

  • what kind of person he/she was,
  • what nice points you remember about him/her,
  • what kind of relationship you had with him/her,
  • what you two perhaps did together,
  • what he/she meant to you,
  • or other things about him/her might be especially encouraging for other people.

This web site is intended solely as a means of allowing all of us to express our grief and sympathy in behalf of the people who lost their lives, and also our love and compassion towards those who lost loved ones and friends in the 9/11/01 tragedy. The site is strictly for memorial mentions of those who passed away in the tragedy, not of other people who have passed away.

Our hearts are very touched with concern in behalf of those people, and it is to them that we dedicate this web site. It is not our intent to venture into the realms of WHO should face judgement, to take responsibility for those terrible events, because we have no way of knowing for sure who all might fall into that category. Therefore, any letters or notes written passing judgment upon any person or group will not be published on this site. We do NOT want this site to be a base for expressions of hatred, but only for expressions of LOVE!

9-11Heroes.us is a personal effort, not a business, nor is the site dedicated to any specific person or persons. We will not post negative comments. Moreover, 9-11Heroes.us reserves the right to choose which comments to post and also to edit the comments for spelling, punctuation, grammar, or edit comments that are unkind or offensive in some manner. We are maintaining this site with our own money and time. We try to keep the advertisements to a minimum and we try to make them as unobtrusive as possible. The revenue goes back to maintaining this site.

Thank you for your understanding in these matters.
