I grew up with Billy in Yardley he was an awesome all around athlete and good friend to me and my brother Jay. The Venegas family will never forget you.........

I met Bill in the Summer of 93 while he worked as a stockbroker at Dean Witter Reynolds in Alexandria, Va. He took me to lunch at the Union St. Pub and laid out a terrific investment plan (AOL back in its heyday) and our mutual love of sports (with his Tide beating my Canes in the 93 sugar bowl) always made talking to him fun and an outlet from the daily rigors of life.

He also counseled me because I was coming to him for advice, as my own father had passed away in early feb of 93...

He wrote me a letter/called me, took me to lunch when he said he was leaving for the another opportunity in the Big Apple. We wished each other well... that was a few years later.

You would be so proud of your home community, your Mom, Dad and family and all the folks working on the 9-11 Memorial Garden. The love everyone has for you is still overwhelming. They miss you dearly, especially this day.

Five years to the day, where have they gone? You watch from above as they fly by and I know you are wathcing over us each and every day. Today was a spectacular weather day, one for which you would have said, isn't life just grand. I went to the beach for a while to sit with you and watch the waves, they were great today, weren't they... Still, it hurts as it did then...

Miss you and love you "LOTS"...

I remember you most as a little adorable kid at the Buck Hill Falls camp club and what a great tennis player you were, and later on in our lives bumping into all the buck hillers at the "cabin", you with your pals.. you and your Buck Hill friends had such a zest for life. You are missed and I pray for your family often.

I knew Bill in college at the University of Alabama. He was always so happy and friendly and so darn CUTE! I was so shaken when I read the memeorial about Bill in the University news journal. I think of you often and am sad for your family. I know that you will be remembered always by those UP NORTH and those of us DOWN SOUTH.

Flag atop our building dedicated to Bill

The flag pole was installed on 9/01/06. We briefly took a few photos, one of which is attached.

Our building is celebrating the lives of those who perished on 9/11, which included my fraternity brother, Bill Godshalk, while we attended the Univ of Alabama. We plan to serve lunch for 450 people and dedicate the flag/flag pole to the victims of 9/11 raising the flag officially
for the first time next Monday. Moving forward, we plan to honor them each year on the anniversary in a unique and special way.

Bill was a wonderful person, full of life and the type of person that people truly enjoyed being around. We Love and Miss You Bill!

The building that I lease and manage in Birmingham, AL installed a 33 foot flagpole atop our building this morning and plan to dedicate the flag to wonderful folks like you who gave the ultimate sacrifice on 9/11. My personal mission is to place a bronze plague (complete with your looks) memorial in your honor in our lobby in the not too distance future. I will be reminded of you each day when I drive into work.

And guess what, the Alabama football season starts tomorrow and all your phi gam brothers will continue to remember you and all the great times we shared on campus!

We Love You Bill and will never forget you!

It's a hot night in the Hamptons and I bet you and you're Pal's would be kickin' up a storm out here in one of your rentals. I'm heading to the beach tomorrow to do a little swimming, I'll be sure to body surf a wave in for you. Miss you. Stay near.

I never had the chance to meet you, but I always hear such wonderful things about you whenever your name comes up, and I think we are a lot alike. My grandad was your fathers 1st cousin and I always thought he (Bond) was the greatest guy! You're dearly missed and your spirit will live with us forever.

i knew bill from high school. we had a few classes together. he was a great guy and a good friend. the first time i went to ground 0 there were photos of missing people all over the front of a church. for whatever reason, from across the street among all the photos my eyes were fixed on one. i crossed the street and as i got closer i became more and more confused, scared, and upset to realize the photo was of bill. we were never the best of friends. never called eachother. never really hung out, but we were friends just the same. it was a sad and strange day to see his face all those years later as one of the missing. im so sorry.

Bill, I miss you terribly. I never imagined I would go through life without my big brother. I never imagined you would never meet my baby girl. You'd love her. She's a silly one that makes us laugh all the time... I think she's going to be a social butterfly just like her Uncle Bill. And, just like you, she smiles all the time. You set an extraordinary example for us in living your life to the fullest and completely enjoying every moment -- I'm trying hard to do the same but it's often hard to do. I love you, miss you and think about you every single day.

Bill Bill: I still think about you every day.  When I'm playing golf, listening to "our music" or just running around the city you are always in my thoughts. I have a beautiful daughter now, I'm sure you'd love her. I shed a tear when I  think how our kids will not play together. But don't worry pal, I'll  tell her  all about her "Uncle Bill-Bill".

Post your memorial thoughts:

Share your feelings and memories of grief and sadness concerning the 9-11-2001 attack, or of positive memories.  If you knew this person, help us to build a small 'bio' of the person and share with us something about his/her life:

  • what kind of person he/she was,
  • what nice points you remember about him/her,
  • what kind of relationship you had with him/her,
  • what you two perhaps did together,
  • what he/she meant to you,
  • or other things about him/her might be especially encouraging for other people.

This web site is intended solely as a means of allowing all of us to express our grief and sympathy in behalf of the people who lost their lives, and also our love and compassion towards those who lost loved ones and friends in the 9/11/01 tragedy. The site is strictly for memorial mentions of those who passed away in the tragedy, not of other people who have passed away.

Our hearts are very touched with concern in behalf of those people, and it is to them that we dedicate this web site. Therefore, any letters or notes written passing judgment upon any person or group will not be published on this site. We do NOT want this site to be a base for expressions of hatred, but only for expressions of LOVE!
