I have been reading all the comments about Bill, including my own, everything still is so true. Bill and Barbara were my best friends since I was 15 and still are. They are such a special family. Bill is not gone to me, I think of him all the time. He loved his family so much. I wish he could have seen all his grandchildren born, but I know he is watching over them all. See you again someday my friend.Forever missed.

I never had the honor of meeting Mr. Steckman but I do know he raised a beautiful, caring and kind daughter. Although it has been many years since I have seen her, I am very lucky to be reunited with her through Facebook. Just the thought that he knows how great of a person she has turned out to be might help to ease the pain in her heart. I know words will never help ease the pain but just to let her know that from the stories that she has told of her father make me feel as if I know him. Thank you and your family for allowing us in your life.

I will never meet this man, but he sounds like some one I would have enjoyed knowing. I saw his picture and googled him, and found this site. But I am glad he was loved, because we all deserve that. My prayer is that the memories of time spent with him will bring a smile and a little joy to those who did meet and know him. Then maybe one day we can all meet in heaven. Every now and then he will cross my mind and I will remermber his family in prayer. God Bless you all. Love TK

We will never forget Bill. Bill's wife Barbara and I have been friends since we were 15 years old. Bill and Barbara were such a special couple. They were the best of friends to me. We enjoyed each other's marriages and the births of our children. As life went on, we watched each other's children grow and marry. Bill danced with me at my children's marriages. When we were blessed with grandchildren, another chapter began. Bill was the best husband and father. He was a great friend to all. Like everyone else, I have such favorite memories of Bill and many funny stories. I pray that his family finds peace and is comforted by the fact that he was such a wonderful person. Rest in peace, Bill. Forever loved and missed by all.

Bill was my colleague at WNBC-TV. We were both transmitter engineers and the project to build/broadcast HD/digital on that tower on WTC1 was an opportunity of a lifetime. Bill was the veteran expert and was known and respected by all in the business. Such an honor to work with him period! Bill told me incredible stories like watching World Trade Center Rise in the skyline while at our original transmitter office at the Empire State Building. Bill had a sense of humor and was well loved by his family, friends, and community. He once showed me a picture of him on the USS Eagle when he was in the Coast Guard. Bill loved talking about his Grandson--reading to him Harry Potter books. Bill is a very kind-hearted person and one of a kind indeed. We still miss him to this day and most likely will for the rest of our lives. Aloha Bill! Thanks for the memories!

I never knew him. But I do know his son and have to say he must have been a amazing person because he raised a very genuine person! I pray that his family finds peace and love in everything they touch and know their Dad/husband/cousin/friend is looking down watching them.

On this day of remembrance in 2006, Bill Steckman's name appeared in my family genealogical search. I would not be surprised if he, too, is a cousin of mine. I would appreciate someone getting in touch with me at jladd@ionet.net

I had the honor of working with Bill at NBC when he would (on occasion) cover a shift at 30 Rockefeller Plaza in the signal aquisition room. We worked in the same room together when I would supervise the editing department. He was a wonderful man, very mild mannered, polite. That job can be so stressful, he always remained calm. I don't know anyone who handled that job as well as he did, and it wasn't even his regular assignment. I admire his courage and his love for his family. I did not get to work with Bill often, but he is someone who really left an impression on me as just an all around good person. My thoughts and prayers are with his wonderful family, whom I meet under such terrible circumstance at the dedication to Bill in the studio at WNBC. Stay strong, god bless you all!

I came across this site by accident, which seems crazy, because Bill Steckman is my best friends father. He is an absolutely amazing man, who was like a father to me growing up. He is missed every single day by everyone that was blessed enough to know him. I think about him often and i hope one day his beautiful family finds peace again.

Post your memorial thoughts:
Share your feelings and memories of grief and
sadness concerning the 9-11-2001 attack, or of positive memories. If you knew this
person, help us to build a small 'bio' of the person and share with
us something about his/her life:
- what kind of person he/she was,
- what nice points you remember about him/her,
- what kind of relationship you had with him/her,
- what you two perhaps did together,
- what he/she meant to you,
- or other things about him/her might be especially encouraging
for other people.
This web site is intended solely as a means of allowing all of us to express our grief and sympathy in behalf of the people who lost their lives, and also our love and compassion towards those who lost loved ones and friends in the 9/11/01 tragedy. The site is strictly for memorial mentions of those who passed away in the tragedy, not of other people who have passed away.
Our hearts are very touched with concern in behalf of those people, and it is to them that we dedicate this web site. It is not our intent to venture into the realms of WHO should face judgement, to take responsibility for those terrible events, because we have no way of knowing for sure who all might fall into that category. Therefore, any letters or notes written passing judgment upon any person or group will not be published on this site. We do NOT want this site to be a base for expressions of hatred, but only for expressions of LOVE!
